My Favorites of 2024 (Blog Posts and Purchases)
At the beginning of each new year, I like to share some of my favorite blog posts from the previous year. This year, many of my favorites were also included in my 10 Most Popular Posts of 2024), so today I’m just sharing a favorite from each season. In addition, I’m also including a list of favorite purchases for my home. So, if you’re looking for some ideas or projects to start off the new year, hopefully some of my favorites of 2024 will inspire you!

My Favorites of 2024 – Ideas from Each Season:
Favorites of 2024 – Winter Ideas:
In this blog post – End of January (Home Decorating, Shopping & More), I shared decorating inspiration along with some plans for spaces like my foyer. When I look back at this blog post, I think it made my favorites because I listed goals for my home and actually achieved a few during the year. (That’s not always the case!) For instance, my entryway table was feeling very bare and uninspiring after Christmas. In my “favorite “purchases” section later in this blog post, you’ll see how this space is progressing.
Favorites of 2024 – Spring Ideas:
Once the weather starts getting warmer, I get inspired to decorate for spring! Last March, I shared some colorful spring decor in my Creating Easter Vignettes (Simple Decorating Ideas) blog post. One reason this made my favorite list is because I love any chance to decorate with pink!
Favorites of 2024 – Summer Ideas:
When the sun sets late in the day, I love spending time in my living room. For my Goodbye June Hello July (Decorating Ideas & More) blog post, I shared some photos that didn’t get included in my summer home tour. In addition, I shared a bunch of ideas with a summer vibe.
Favorites of 2024 – Fall Ideas:
As much as I love summer, I do get excited when fall arrives. In my blog post, October Vibes (Decorating and Embracing Autumn), I shared some cozy fall ideas and some pretty exteriors decorated for fall.
My Favorites of 2024 – Purchases for My Home:
A vintage piece of furniture for my foyer…
As I mentioned in the “winter ideas” above, I made a purchase for my foyer in 2024…an antique blue dresser! For years, I had been looking to replace the wrought iron table with something more substantial. While shopping in Lambertville, NJ, I found the dresser at The People’s Store, a fabulous antique center. Apparently, the dresser is around 100 years old and has been refinished and painted. In different lighting, the piece can look navy or a peacock blue. Either way, the color works perfectly in my home!
Just last week, I bought this gold mirror to replace the current oval one. If I love how it looks, you’ll be seeing that listed as one of my favorite purchases of 2025! Anyway, I’m having fun transforming this space that had looked the same for so many years.
Shop similar looking dressers:
A versatile silver plated champagne bucket…
At the same antique store I purchased the dresser, I found this pretty champagne bucket. Not only would it be pretty to use for champagne but it’s a perfect piece to fill with flowers or greenery. In fact, I’ve already used it on my Thanksgiving and Christmas table and plan to decorate with it all year. To me, it has that classic Ralph Lauren vibe. If you love the look, here is a similar champagne bucket!
Traditional plaid runner for the kitchen…
When I shared my Christmas home tour, I had just removed the rug in front of our sink (that got wet from a plumbing issue…ugh). At that time, I hadn’t bought anything to replace the rug so the spot was feeling a little bare…until I bought this plaid Ruggable rug! Seriously, could I have found anything more perfect for this space?!! Since I don’t take down Christmas until January 1st, I got to enjoy the new rug for a few weeks…and will be putting it out again next Christmas.
Pretty and practical rug for kitchen table…
Over the years, my chairs have scratched the wood floor under my kitchen table…and it was only getting worse. I figured it was cheaper to buy a rug than refinish the hardwood floors! Since I love the look of seagrass but love the practicality of an outdoor rug, I ended up with this exact rug in the 7’10” x 10’10” size.…definitely one of my favorites of 2024!
Traditional candlesticks…
Last year, I saw these brass candlesticks when shopping in Crate and Barrel but decided to look for a cheaper version. Then I came across this very similar set for a much better price and I ordered them. Not only were they less expensive but they’ve got a nice weight to them and are beautiful! During 2024, I used them in several spaces in my home and will continue to display them! For example, here’s one of the vignettes…
Classic curtain panels…
Since my older son is a junior in college, I was long overdue to replace his gray and white chevron curtains for something more sophisticated. Now when he comes home, his room doesn’t have a baby-ish feel. Plus, these have a black out lining which is perfect for those late-sleeping days when he’s home on break! If you’d like to get a set, here are the exact ones we bought. Not only are they inexpensive, but they come in a bunch of colors and sizes!
Boring…but so practical…
Although practical home items aren’t very exciting, one of my favorites of 2024 just makes life a little easier. In our family room, the front legs of our sectional sit on the area rug but the back legs are on the hardwood floors. Because of this arrangement, the sectional slides around more than we’d like. All of a sudden, I’ll notice that my furniture has slid into the windows and it’s so annoying. So, we bought these furniture gripper pads and they make a huge difference! Since we started using them, I haven’t had to readjust my furniture once!
Hopefully, after taking a look at my favorites of 2024 you’ll be inspired to try some new things in your home this year!
And since it’s always fun to reminisce, here are some links to my favorite posts from previous years!
Even though these were my favorites of 2024, I’d love to hear what YOU would like to see more of in 2025. Please feel free to share any ideas in the comments below!

This was a fun look back! The “new to you” dresser in your entry way is stunning. And I especially love the contrast between the stained top and the blue paint color. I can’t wait to see your new mirror on top. And thank you for sharing some ideas for protecting your floors. The plaid ‘Ruggable’ runner in your kitchen is perfect!
Thanks so much, Kristine! Yeah, that dresser was such a find! I had an idea of what I wanted in that space and as soon as I saw that piece I thought it could work! I just hung the mirror this week…so the space is coming along. Thanks for stopping by to comment!
