Ideas for Decorating After Christmas:

Style your fireplace mantel with simple winter accessories…

Instead of completely changing my mantel after Christmas, I just removed my traditional Christmas decor (red bows and Christmas sign) for a fresh look for January.  During the winter season, I still like to keep some greenery out to prevent my home from looking too bare.  As spring gets closer, I’ll remove the evergreen branches and pine cones and replace them with something more seasonally appropriate. In the meantime, I think this look works…at least for January.

Decorating after Christmas with pine cones and candles…

As I mentioned above, keep the pine cones out for awhile for a wintery feel.  And since the sun sets so early during the winter months, light a candle or two in the evenings.  Sometimes, I’ll sit and read with a cup a tea in my living room.  Lighting a candle on my coffee table adds a cozy glow to the room.  For more wintery decorating ideas, read – Winter Decorating Inspiration with Pine Cones and Candles.
