My Favorites of 2023 (Decorating and DIY Ideas)
At the beginning of each new year, I like to share some of my favorite blog posts from the previous year. Even though my favorites weren’t necessarily the most popular posts of the year, they’re a handful of ones I liked for one reason or another. (For the most popular recap read – 10 Most Popular Posts of 2023). So, if you’re looking for some ideas or projects to start off the new year, hopefully some of my favorites of 2023 will inspire you!
My Favorites of 2023 – A Table Setting:
Thanksgiving Table Setting in the Dining Room…
In 2023, I didn’t decorate as many table settings as I normally do. In fact, most of the tablescapes I shared last year were included in seasonal home tours. So, probably my favorite table setting of 2023 was my Thanksgiving table which I shared in my Goodbye November Hello December blog post.
Ironically, this table setting was my favorite because I didn’t really have a plan. Even though I didn’t even start decorating the table until Thanksgiving morning, everything just fell into place. First, I started with a floral arrangement from a friend and then just pulled out accessories to match. Once I was done, I carried the same colors to my Thanksgiving table in the kitchen. Normally, I wouldn’t have waited until the last minute to create my tablescapes so it was nice that they worked out!
My Favorites of 2023 – Tray Vignettes:
Tiered Tray Entertaining Ideas…
Occasionally, I join a group of bloggers for a tray decorating blog tour. Last February, I shared How to Decorate a Tiered Tray (for Tea Time Entertaining) in that group. Originally, I had just planned to decorate my tea/coffee station but then decided to add more tea decorating ideas to my kitchen island. So, I ended up decorating that vignette using flowers, pastries and other tea time snacks to create an afternoon tea display.
This ended up being a favorite of mine because I showed the versatility of a simple tiered tray. Plus, it was just fun to create!
My Favorite DIY Project of 2023:
Easy DIY Ghost Decorations…
If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you know that I only attempt DIY projects if they’re easy! In 2023, I created a few DIY Halloween Ghost Decorations that almost anyone could do! Not only were they easy but they added just the right amount of Halloween decor to my home, without going overboard.
This was a favorite because I showed how easily you can add Halloween decor without spending a lot of money…or time!
My Favorites of 2023 – Seasonal Decorating:
Christmas Coffee Table Decor…
Basically, I shared my Christmas Coffee Table Decorating Ideas to give easy decorating tips. Whether you’re decorating last minute or want to keep your holiday decorating simple, a coffee table is totally doable!
Since I love finding new ways to display my white ceramic houses, this was a favorite post. Plus, it motivated me to start making Instagram reels again! Besides, the ceramic houses, I also had fun experimenting with other coffee table decor.
Hopefully, after taking a look at my favorites of 2023 you’ll be inspired to try some new things in your home this year!
And since it’s always fun to reminisce, here are some links to my favorite posts from previous years!
Even though these were my favorites, I’d love to hear what YOU would like to see more of in 2024. Please feel free to share any ideas in the comments below!
