Spring Faux Florals and Greenery (Decorating Ideas)
Hello friends! Welcome to the Saturday Spotlight! Each week, I like to highlight a different home related theme or topic to inspire you. With the official first day of spring coming up, it’s time to brighten up our homes for the season. One easy way is to add fresh flowers but if you want them to last longer, mix in some artificial blooms. Today, I’m sharing decorating ideas for spring faux florals and greenery!

Ways to Decorate with Spring Faux Florals:
Add some spring color with classic cherry blossoms…
If you can’t make the trip to Washington D.C. for the National Cherry Blossom Festival, bring the look to your home! Traditionally, cherry blossoms symbolize a time of rebirth and the beginning of spring. One year, I styled a pitcher of faux cherry blossoms on a tray in the center of my island…to celebrate the start of spring!

Create a simple cherry blossom centerpiece…
For those of you who are hosting Easter, consider setting your table with a vase of faux cherry blossoms for the centerpiece. When you’re styling a table ahead of time, sometimes a faux floral arrangement is the best way to go. To see more of this table, read – Easter Decoration Ideas where you’ll see even more artificial spring flowers.

*If you’re looking to recreate one my simple artificial flower arrangements, here is where I bought my faux cherry blossoms. Of course, they tend to sell out this time of year but Pottery Barn also sells some pretty ones.
Add some height to your island or countertop with tall floral stems…
To keep most of your kitchen island cleared for meal prep, go vertical with your decor. Just a simple vase filled with floral stems makes a great focal point without using up valuable counter space.

Decorate with spring tulips…
Of course, another quintessential spring flower is the tulip. During the spring season, it’s easy to find bunches of fresh tulips in grocery stores and basically any place that sells seasonal blooms. Unfortunately, real tulips don’t last very long so you might want to go with faux tulips. When I decorated for spring last year, I styled my foyer table with artificial tulips. Since I kept the table decorated all spring, it made sense to use faux flowers.

Mix in real and faux flowers with greenery…
One year, when I decorated my spring entry table, I highlighted my blue and white collection with spring flowers. Instead of using all fresh flowers, I mixed in a few faux florals and greenery. In this spring vignette, only the bright pink peonies and the two green plants are artificial.
Use faux florals when filling a spring door basket…
Unless you want to line the basket with plastic or a container, faux spring flowers are the way to go. No need to water these…

Hang a faux tulip wreath on your front door…
Obviously, you’d have to use fake flowers for this one! For spring, I love adding vibrant colors to my front door. Plus, my door is black, so the tulip wreath could easily be seen from the street.

Decorating with Faux Spring Greenery:
Add faux plants and greenery to your coffee table…
In my living room, I like to change my coffee table decor every season. Since the room is facing north, it doesn’t get a lot of direct sunlight. Instead of attempting to keep real plants alive, I tend to use artificial plants and greenery in there. Last year when I decorated for Easter, I surrounded a bowl full of Easter eggs with faux palm branches. With the way I had them displayed, real ones wouldn’t have lasted long.

Use faux boxwood spheres in your vignettes…
For vase fillers (or basket fillers in this case), faux boxwood orbs add a touch of greenery that we’re all craving in the spring.

Decorate with faux greenery on your fireplace mantel…
Recently, I brought out the faux boxwood spheres to add some spring cheer to my mantel. In addition to those, I filled a white ceramic vase with artificial green stems. With the combination of the green and white, my family room now feels spring fresh!

Reasons to Buy Faux Florals and Greenery for Spring:
Even if you may prefer the real thing, here are reasons to go faux…
- Allergies – Why give yourself more reasons to sneeze in the spring?
- Pets – Apparently, there’s a huge list of plants and flowers that are toxic to pets!
- Cost – Over time, faux flowers tend to be more cost effective.
- Low Maintenance – No need to change water or cut off dead pieces!
Spring Shopping for Faux Florals and Greenery:
This spring, add a few artificial flowers and plants…
Because we all know, real tulips don’t last very long…but faux tulips like these do! Also, these come in a variety of pretty spring colors!
Since real lilacs can have an overpowering scent, you could choose artificial blooms like these. On that website, I’ve found the best faux florals!
If you’re looking for a spring wreath, here’s a pretty tulip one! Also, it comes in 3 sizes!
For a vase filler or to add a touch of greenery to your home, I have (and love) these simple boxwood orbs.
Recently, I also bought these exact bendable stems (shown on my fireplace mantel above). Each set comes with five stems which is all I needed to fill my vase!
