If you’re like me, you’ve been going non-stop lately. Since we host Thanksgiving, I start most of my Christmas decorating the day after. Yes, it’s been a chaotic weekend so far. So while, I dig through my Christmas bins, I hope you enjoy some of these decorating ideas, shopping finds and various ways to welcome the holiday season. Goodbye November Hello December:
From Happy Thanksgiving to Merry Christmas…time flies!
Since I didn’t have time to write a blog post sharing my Thanksgiving tables, here are a few photos from Thanksgiving Day…
For my dining room table, I decorated with neutrals and touches of green. Normally, I save the green trellis napkins for spring decorating but they worked well with the tans and browns for Thanksgiving.
This year, friends sent us flowers ahead of time so we had 2 beautiful centerpieces! In the dining room, we displayed the more formal arrangement featuring roses, hydrangeas and tropical flowers in a gold container.
Because that flower arrangement arrived a couple days early, the hydrangeas needed a little ‘reviving’ that morning. So, I soaked them in water for several hours. One of them perked up but the other didn’t make it so I stuck a faux hydrangea in its place…and no one could tell!
Since we always host a bunch of family members, we end up using both the kitchen and dining tables. In the kitchen, I decorated with this adorable floral centerpiece my friend sent us…
If you read my blog, then you know that I love decorating with white pumpkins. Obviously, my friend knows me well!
Goodbye November Hello December Decorating:
Let the Christmas decorating begin!
Yes, I know many of you decorate way before this weekend but I can only concentrate on one holiday at a time. Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, I’m full-on Christmas over here! While I decorate my home, take a look back at some of my Christmas decorations from previous years…
Since I showed you my dining room decorated for Thanksgiving, I’ll continue with that room and show you how I decorated my dining room for Christmas last year.
With my navy blue walls, I love adding blue and white decorations to my dining room. Each year, I’ve been buying more blue and white ornaments for my tree. This year, I also bought some blue and white ribbon so stay tuned to see how I use that!
Of course, I don’t stop in the dining room when decorating with blue. Throughout the years, I’ve mixed blue and white with my traditional red Christmas decorations. For instance, here is my kitchen decorated with red and blue a couple years ago.
Each year, I think about decorating with neutrals for Christmas but end up adding color. I just can’t help myself. In my opinion, there’s just something so festive about red at Christmas time!

December DIY Ideas:
December is a great month to get creative…
Just last week, I shared how to make easy gingerbread house ornaments. If I can make these, anyone can!
Plus, December 12th happens to be National Gingerbread House Day so they fit right in with that theme!
December Shopping Finds:
After all, the month of December is made for shopping!
If you don’t have time to make your own gingerbread house decor, buy these cute appetizer plates for your next holiday get together!
If you’re setting a Christmas table, these plates would also look great on top of each place setting.
This Christmas, hang some mini wreaths like these on your chairbacks.
When I hung mine on my chairs, I included velvet ribbon and gold bells. See them in this Christmas blog post.
Bring some holiday cheer into your bedroom with this gorgeous plaid duvet cover!
Since it comes in 3 color combinations, you can buy one for you and one as a gift. After all, that’s the best way to Christmas shop…one for you…one for me!
