Hello Holiday Season – November Decorating:

Wrapping up Thanksgiving and the fall season…

Before I jump into to all the Christmas ideas, I want to share a few fabulous finds I’ve added to my home in November.  Recently, my sister-in-law and I did some thrift store shopping in Lambertville, NJ.  Lately, she’s opened my eyes to a bunch of places in that charming town…and this time, I made a couple purchases!  First, I picked up a gorgeous silver plated champagne bucket that I used for my Thanksgiving centerpiece…

This year, we hosted a total of 22 people so we had to extend the dining room table and add the kitchen table for overflow.  Needless to say, I didn’t have enough matching placemats or napkins (or chairs), so I mixed and matched to make it all work.  In my opinion, the new champagne bucket made an elegant addition to the dining room table!

While on that same thrift shopping trip, I spotted a beautiful blue dresser for my foyer.  After putting it on hold for one day, I brought it home!  For years, I’ve been wanting to replace my wood and metal foyer table with something more substantial.  Basically, I wanted something to fill the space and add character to my home.  According to the store, the dresser is about 100 years old and has been refinished and repainted.  (Don’t you love the color?)  I think it makes the perfect addition to my foyer!

Depending on the lighting, the blue can look navy or take on more of a peacock blue color.  Either way, I think it blends well with my rug and the navy blues in the adjoining rooms.  For now, I did some temporary styling for the top of it but I plan to try a larger mirror and add some festive arrangements for the holidays.  Some years, I put up one of my Christmas trees in this spot but this year, I’ll probably just decorate the dresser instead.

Hello Holiday Season – December Decorating:

Ideas to get your home ready for the most wonderful time of year…

In our home, we basically start our Christmas decorating the day after Christmas.  Sure, there have been times when I’ve snuck in a few early Christmas decorations – (Decorating for Thanksgiving and Christmas), but we generally wait.  Since it’s always fun to look back for inspiration, take a peek at last year’s Christmas home tour.

Over the years, I’ve started to add additional Christmas trees to my home.  Usually, we put a real tree in our living room and then decorate a few artificial trees in various rooms.  As I mentioned above, sometimes I decorate a tree in my foyer – Christmas Decor House Tour.

And for the past few years, I’ve been decorating a tree in my dining room –  Red and Blue Christmas Tree in the Dining Room.  Sure, all these extra trees mean extra work but I love spreading holiday cheer around my home!
