Now, let’s get started with my stop on the tour…
Blue and White Fall Decorating Ideas – Foyer:
Make a statement with a fall floral arrangement in a blue and white vase…
If you own any blue and white porcelain, there’s no need to pack it away during the fall season. This year, my hydrangea bushes have been bursting with blooms so I cut a bunch and arranged them in a tall blue and white vase. When you walk in my front door, it’s the first thing you notice on my foyer table.
This time of year, my foyer gets a ton of afternoon light so it makes sense to dress up the space for the fall season.
Since hydrangeas look great when fresh or dried, they are the perfect late summer – early fall flower to use when decorating. If you want to add deeper fall hues later, swap out the flowers for some branches of fall leaves.
Blue and White Fall Decorating Ideas – Living Room:
Mix fall pieces with blue and white items…
Even though my living room colors are mostly neutrals, reds and greens, I still managed to mix in little bit of blue and white for fall. Of course, blue and white aren’t traditional fall colors but when blended with fall accessories, you can make them work.
First, I brought out my large blue and white ceramic planter. Then I filled it with natural elements like wicker orbs and mini white pumpkins. To continue the blue theme, I stacked my blue and white decorating books on my coffee table.
Sure, I mixed in a little bit of green as well…more green hydrangeas from my garden and an apple scented fluted green glass candle. When decorating for fall, autumn inspired scents add to the seasonal feel. This candle comes in two sizes which you can find here.
In my opinion, blue and white works for fall if you add in a few seasonal items like pumpkins or fall flowers.
And if you’re not ready for orange pumpkins yet, white pumpkins look great this time of year. Slowly, you can ease your decor into fall without going too crazy. For more fall coffee table ideas, read – Fall Coffee Table Ideas (Easy and Stylish).
Blue and White Fall Decorating Ideas – Kitchen:
Mix blue accents with seasonal decor…
Can you tell blue is my favorite color? When you have a white kitchen or any white room, you have a great background to make your colors stand out. Like I said, blue and white are non-traditional fall colors but if you layer in a few natural elements you can make those colors work.
By the way, my indoor outdoor seagrass rug is making its debut on this tour! Over time our chairs have scratched the floor so I decided I really needed an area rug. Plus, I like the way the rug anchors the table and warms up the room for fall.
To celebrate the autumn season, I decorated a fall tablescape to go with the other blue and white decor.
As soon as I saw this table runner, I knew it would make the perfect focal point for my fall table. Normally, I place two chairs at each end of the table but I moved them all to the sides to let the pumpkin table runner stand out. I love the way it looks hanging over the ends.
To continue with the blue and white theme, I used my classic white dishes for the place settings and topped each one with blue velvet pumpkins.
Since there are several shades of blue in the table runner, I was able to mix in a variety of blue pumpkins for color and texture. For instance, the blue glass pumpkins are more of a navy and they’re also open on the bottom. That way, you can add some battery powered lights if you like.
To add a little more texture and pattern, I anchored each place setting on a blue and white houndstooth placemat along with my brown woven chargers.
Across the kitchen, I sprinkled in a few more blue and white items with green hydrangeas. On my island, I arranged mini white pumpkins, candles, hydrangeas and blue and white porcelain on a long wooden charcuterie board.
For a fall evening, flickering candlelight adds to the cozy vibe. Since this island centerpiece is so low, it would also make a great centerpiece for a fall table. That way, you can easily see your guests across the table.
Yes, I’ve gone a little crazy with the fall hydrangeas this year. They just look so great with all the blue and white! If you want more ideas, see how I decorated a bunch of fall vignettes with hydrangeas.
Speaking of vignettes, here’s one more in my kitchen corner featuring a blue and white painted pumpkin. For more DIY pumpkin ideas, read – Blue and White Painted Pumpkins.
Blue and White Fall Decorating Ideas – Dining Room:
Add white pumpkins and accessories to existing blue decor…
If you already have blue walls or blue decor, then lighten them up with some white fall decor. Since plaid is a classic fall pattern, I placed a couple blue and white plaid throw pillows on my dining room end chairs.
Once again, white pumpkins are perfect for early fall decorating. If you’re going to keep your table set for awhile, faux pumpkins are a good choice.
This year, I even found some cute blue and white pumpkin ribbon that I used as “napkin rings”. Since I have a bunch of the ribbon left over, I might make a bow for a front door wreath. That way, I can tie in the blue and white decor outside too!

You always inspire me. I love how you make blue and white so perfect for fall. Your flowers are amazing and your pretty vignettes so beautifully created. One of my favorite rooms is your Navy dining room. It is stunning. Thanks so much for joining the tour again this year, your home is always filled with tons of inspiration.
Awe, thanks so much Marty! I know blue is an unconventional color for fall so I’m glad to hear you liked how it turned out. Once again, thanks for hosting us all!
Shelley, your home looks absolutely gorgeous cozied up for fall! I love the pumpkin runner and your hydrangea candle centerpiece is beautiful–pinned! Blessings, Cecilia @ My Thrift Store Addiction
Thanks so much, Cecilia – that runner was such a find!
Shelley, your use of blue and white in your fall decor is absolutely gorgeous! I love how you mixed the hydrangeas and fall pieces together—it’s such a fresh take on autumn decor. The stack of blue and white books on your coffee table is a beautiful touch, and that seagrass rug under the dining table ties everything together perfectly. And I’m obsessed with your table runner—it’s just stunning!
Thanks Jayne! Yeah, that table runner was such a find! Glad you like it! Great to tour with you again!
How beautiful Shelley! I have such a soft spot for blue in all seasons, it’s such a versatile and calming colour and I love how you’ve decorated with it for fall! Happy Fall!
Thanks so much Jo-Anna! Great to tour with you!
What a gorgeous fall tour Shelley! I love that blue pumpkin table runner. The wood centerpiece is so clever!
Thank you, Laura! Those wood boards make a great base for decorating. Glad you like it!
Show stopper!! I adore the blue walls in your dining room…and I don’t think it’s possible to go over board with hydrangeas in the fall 😊 they look beautiful. Beautiful home!
Wow, thanks so much! As you can tell, I love decorating with blue! ☺️
love the dinning room wall color, can you share the color and by what paint maker? Love the blue and white color scheme in your home.
Thanks so much, Faye! My dining room walls are Sherwin Williams Naval. Glad you like it!
It’s gorgeous! I am obsessed with all the blue and your hydrangeas! I am inspired to fill some of my empty chinoiserie vases with dried hydrangeas now! Everything looks perfect for the season.
So fun touring with you again. Happy fall!
Thanks so much Amber! This time of year, I have so many hydrangeas in my yard that it would be a crime not to decorate with them! Great to tour with you too!
I’m jealous that you get to do blue and white for a fall theme. My house would never look that good and I love it! Especially the table runner on the kitchen table AND how you mixed a little blue and white to the green hydrangeas on the kitchen island. I’m going to have to borrow that idea. Our island is much smaller and so utilitarian that I always feel it needs to stay cleared off but the look of the long breadboard with that beautiful display is a must! Thank you for the fabulous inspiration. Happy fall!
I’m sure you could find some ways to mix in a little blue and white! Of course, I do have a lot to begin with so I just repurposed a lot of items. Glad you like the table runner…as soon as I saw it, I knew it would be perfect! Yes, the breadboard is low enough so it doesn’t take up too much space. Thanks for your sweet comment and happy fall to you Cindy!
So gorgeous! I love all the pops of blue with the white pumpkins – great inspiration for a unique take on fall decor. Hope you have a wonderful fall season!
Thanks Jenn! I’ll probably add more traditional fall colors in October but it’s blue and white for now!
