Happy Snowy Weekend – Winter Images:

A beautiful winter season…

Yes, we woke up to a winter wonderland this morning! Originally, our area was supposed to get 1-3 inches of snow…and we ended up with 10 inches overnight!  What an early morning surprise that was!  If it had been a weekday, our school would have used up another one of our snow days.

Instead, we had the opportunity to sleep in and enjoy all the coziness!  Later, my husband got to enjoy all the snow shoveling…good times!

Snowy Weekend Getaways:

You can’t beat winter in Vermont…

Even though we’re staying home in New Jersey this weekend, we look forward to more ski weekends in Vermont.  In my opinion, there’s no better place to spend a snowy winter day!  Even if winter sports aren’t your thing, Vermont has some lovely small towns to explore.  Personally, Woodstock is my favorite.  From the covered bridges to the charming boutiques, it’s the perfect place to get the full Vermont experience!

One year, I visited during The Vermont Flurry – Woodstock Snow Sculpture Festival.  For the event, teams create large snow sculptures in the center of town on the Woodstock Village Green.  Here is one of the snow sculptures from that weekend…

Normally, the festival takes place over President’s Day weekend but it looks like it was cancelled this year.  If you can’t make it to Woodstock in the winter months, definitely consider a trip in the fall!  To tempt you, read this blog post – Woodstock Vermont in the Fall!

If you need a place to stay, The Woodstock Inn, known as “Vermont’s Most Beautiful Address”, is perfection!  From the luxurious rooms, to the restaurant and spas, you can’t go wrong at this resort.  Even the lobby is beautiful with this stone fireplace to welcome you after a day of skiing!

Decorating Ideas for a Happy Snowy Weekend:

If you’re going to be home on a snow day, set a cozy table for dinner…

Even though Valentine’s Day has come and gone, there’s no reason you can’t have a romantic dinner at home.  Or, set a pretty table and enjoy it with friends or family.  When decorating this Simple and Cozy Winter Tablescape, I tried to capture the coziness of winter with pine cones and plaid.

Decorate with black and white for the winter months…

Of course, black and white is another color combination that fits in with a snowy winter day.  To see more of this table and my other winter decor, read – Winter Decorating Inspiration.

Years ago, we had a baker’s rack in our kitchen.  Every few months, I would change the accessories on the shelves to reflect the current season.  On my Winter Baker’s Rack, I frequently decorated with black and white…and those plates.

Recipe for a Happy Snowy Weekend:

Comfort food for winter day…

For an easy and cozy dinner, you can’t go wrong with a family chili recipe!  During the fall and winter months, I make this on a regular basis…and it’s great to put the leftovers on nachos!  (By the way, February 22nd is National Chili Day!)

Shopping Finds for a Snowy Weekend:

Here are some great ideas to keep you cozy at home…
