1st Week of September Decorating Ideas:
Transition from Summer to Fall…
September decorating can be a bit challenging. Even though the days are getting cooler, I’m not quite ready to pull out all the pumpkins and fall decor. That’s why I love decorating with sunflowers in September. They’re kind of summer…kind of fall…and you don’t need many to brighten up a space!
Recently, I shared 7 Ways to Decorate with Sunflowers for Fall. From a fall table setting to some other simple ideas, I hope my examples inspire you to decorate with sunflowers this September!
Later this month, I’ll be sharing my fall home tour. So, be sure to come back to see my latest decorating ideas!
September Decorating with Fall Flowers:
Yes, it’s hydrangea season…
Sunflowers aren’t the only flowers blooming in September. Here in New Jersey, my hydrangea bushes are in full bloom! In my opinion, hydrangeas are some of the prettiest flowers to use in home decor…
If they’re one of your favorites as well, see how I’ve decorated for fall with hydrangeas! And for even more hydrangea ideas, don’t miss the ways I’ve used them in my fall kitchen decor!
September – Apple Season Decorating Ideas:
If you’re not ready for pumpkins yet, decorate with apples…
Since we’re also heading into apple season, you might appreciate my ideas for decorating with apples…
From table settings to fall mantels, hopefully some of these ideas will inspire you with your September decorating!
Shopping Ideas for the 1st Week of September:
Don’t you love when all the new fall merchandise hits the stores?
So far, I haven’t been to many physical stores, but I’ve been scrolling through all the online items. Here are a few of my favorites finds so far in September…
Don’t these chenille pillows look cozy?…
Plus, you really can’t go wrong with any of the colors. So classic for fall!
If you want to add a touch of black to your home, this adorable wood and metal accent table could work with many styles of decor.
Not only is it cute (and versatile) but it’s affordable!
Speaking of cute and affordable, I’m loving this fall plaid table runner!
For an autumn table setting, it’s a great starter piece. If you want to see how I decorated my table with a similar plaid runner, see my fall home tour!

Some great ideas here, Shelley. You know hydrangeas flower here all year round, so not so much a fall flower. I do love them though.
Thanks Carol! Wow, how lucky! Some of ours bloom all summer and then just into early fall. (Sorry for the delay in responding. For some reason your comments went into my spam folder!
Shelley, I love sunflowers! I bought fall flowers this weekend. I arranged three different containers. Love fresh flowers in our home. Happy Fall!
Thanks Sarah – Yes, fresh flowers really brighten up a room! Happy almost fall to you too!
I love how you are easing into the Fall season in your home. I just started decorating myself, but its still 85-90 out! I have a brand new link party called Home Imagine. Stop by with your post if you can. Have a great day.
Thanks! Yes, it’s still pretty hot here but today we have some rain to cool it off. I’ll definitely stop by for your link party – thanks!
Thanks for stopping in and sharing.
Shelley, these are all great examples of how to bring Fall into the home and in such a beautiful way. Here in Michigan we’re starting to see leaves turn just a little.
Thanks Maria! It’s been so dry here so a few leaves have started. I hope you have a beautiful fall!
I agree – it’s too early for pumpkins! But sunflowers? Oh, yes! The velvet pillow covers are beautiful! This first week of September we planned a last hurrah down the shore, but, sadly, it rained both of our two full days there, so we left early. 🙁 No rain all summer until planned a beach trip! Oh, well………
Oh no! You’re right, for the most part it didn’t rain the entire summer! Maybe you can plan another getaway!
Thank you so much for sharing my tailgate, Shelley. I appreciate it! Happy first day of September!
You’re welcome Jen! Love your ideas!
