5 Festive Ways to Set the Table for Thanksgiving
In case you haven’t noticed, Thanksgiving is just around the corner! To get you in the mood for the holiday, I thought I’d take a look back at some of my Thanksgiving tables from the past. Whether you’re entertaining a large crowd or a small family gathering, it’s always nice to sit down to a pretty table. Hopefully, my ideas will inspire you with ways to set the table for Thanksgiving at home.
5 Festive Ways to Set the Table for Thanksgiving:
Below, you’ll see some ways I’ve decorated my tables for the holiday.
To see all the details on each table, be sure to click the link below each photo.
Set Your Thanksgiving Table with Flowers and Fruit:
One year, I used a botanical table cloth as a starting point for my table…

From there, I continued the botanical theme by adding fresh pears to each place setting. Even though I kept the linens and dishes neutral, I added a bit of color with some simple grocery store flowers. To dress up the flowers a little, I arranged them in a crystal vase.
Use Your Wall Color as Inspiration:
To celebrate our newly painted dining room walls, I decorated the Thanksgiving table with pops of navy that year…

To help the navy blue stand out, I used browns and neutrals for the rest of the Thanksgiving table colors. Since I’m always looking for ways to decorate with white pumpkins, I placed one with a simple gingham bow on each place setting. Apparently, I’m not the only one who loves this look because this has been one of my most popular table settings on the blog!
Create an Elegant Thanksgiving Table with Candles and White Linens:
If you are going to decorate a formal table, Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday to do it…

After all, it’s almost expected that you’ll bring out the best china and crystal for Thanksgiving dinner. If you’re like most of us, Thanksgiving is the only time you get to use all those wedding gifts you registered for years ago. Am I right? With a white background, those fancy dishes can sparkle in the candlelight.
Use Seasonal Colors and Textures:
If color is more your style, celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with autumn colors…
A Country Thanksgiving for Four
That year, I started with a basket of sunflowers for my Thanksgiving centerpiece. From there, I pulled those colors from the centerpiece to set the table for Thanksgiving. By using browns, golds and greens I gave that table a warm autumn vibe. The textures of the basket, pine cones and chargers also added to the cozy fall feel.
Decorate a Casual Thanksgiving Table Setting in the Kitchen:
Instead of having Thanksgiving dinner in the dining room, why not set a casual Thanksgiving table in the kitchen?
Casual Thanksgiving Table Setting in the Kitchen
For my casual Thanksgiving table, I made a centerpiece from grocery store flowers again. (Why spend a ton of money if you don’t have to!) This time, I placed the flowers inside a galvanized container and then continued the galvanized theme with the chargers. Using the flower colors as inspiration, I decorated the table with colorful plates, gingham chargers and apples. As you’ll notice, I even added a few white pumpkins again…Like I said, I can never get enough of them in the fall!
Normally, we need to set a Thanksgiving table in the kitchen because we usually have so many guests. This year, that won’t be the case with just the four of us. Although, I haven’t decided whether we will eat our Thanksgiving dinner in the dining room or kitchen yet. We’ll see!
Hopefully, my tables from the past gave you some ideas to set your table for Thanksgiving.
Whether or not you’re hosting this year, I hope you get to spend the day with people you love!
