My Winter White Table Setting:
A fresh, clean palette for the new year…
If you’re like me, you’ve packed away all your colorful Christmas decorations and now you’re craving simplicity. To make my home feel calm and classic, I tend to decorate with winter whites during the month of January. Not only is white decor timeless, but it also reflects the light in the darker winter months.

Creating ambiance with white candles…
On my winter table, I grouped a bunch of pillar candles in varying heights.

Candlelight adds warmth in an all white table setting.

Plus, scattering the candles around the table gives a casual-elegant feel.

White flowers for the centerpiece…
By keeping the flowers in the same white color scheme, they add softness to the table.

For my floral centerpiece, I just filled a white pitcher with grocery store flowers. It’s a simple look that doesn’t overwhelm the table…and it’s inexpensive. For an alternate vessel, you could use a clear vase or even a casual galvanized steel container.

Gray tones help to ground the all white table…
To add subtle pattern and structure, a striped tablecloth makes a great foundation.

For more touches of gray, I stacked my white plates on top of my galvanized metal chargers.

Layering white dishes for a cohesive look…
In my opinion, every home should have a set of white plates. They go with every style and can be mixed and matched with other dishes. For this winter white table setting, I used all white plates and napkins. For a bit of texture, I cut piece of white textured ribbon and layered it between the napkin and plate on each setting.

During after Christmas sales, you might be able to find something similar at craft stores like Michaels. Or, get creative and cut up pieces of cable knit fabric like this one from Etsy.
Styling details that add personality…
For a nod to the winter season, I placed a sparkly snowflake on top of each salad plate. The snowflakes are actually Christmas ornaments that I hung on my dining room Christmas tree.

Between the sparkly snowflakes and the twinkling candles, the table makes me think of frosty winter day.

Enjoying your home after the holidays…
This year, consider setting a pretty table or adding a few seasonal accessories to transition from Christmas to the winter.

Even adding a simple bouquet of flowers can help brighten your home on those cold winter days.

Add some life to your spaces with touches of greenery…
In January, I usually leave some of my Christmas greenery out. As long as I remove any red berries or overly Christmas-y details, it can look intentional for the winter months.

On my fireplace mantel, I just removed the garland and stockings but kept the wintery accessories. This look coordinates well with my winter white table setting. For even more winter ideas, read – January Wrap Up.

Your table looks so inviting. And I love that you used real candles! The extra texture with the wide ribbon on the place setting is such a great idea as well. I would have never thought to do that, but I love it! Do you keep your table set all the time? I’ve never done that, but it has such a welcoming look. Love the tablecloth too! Happy winter Shelley. pinned
Thanks Cindy! Yeah, I use battery candles in some spots but I love real candles on a table. I sometimes set my dining room table for periods of time but we use the kitchen one everyday so it doesn’t stay this way. Although, we did have dinner with this setting and it felt very special! Thanks for your kind words…and for pinning!
Shelley this table is so soothing and serene. The candles add a truly cozy touch. Love the neutrals!
Thanks Laura! That’s the look I was going for!
It is so classy, elegant and calming! I love this soft and serene look after all of the festive Christmas decor. The table setting looks perfect with your white kitchen too.
Beautiful and cozy accents around the fireplace too. Such pretty ideas!
Thanks so much for joining the hop!
Thanks Amber! I feel like every January, I crave whites and neutrals. Thanks again for hosting us!
Shelley, your table is lovely set in all-white! Sooo pretty with the little Christmas snowflakes on top!! I love all-white decor and had a friend in California who decorated in nothing but white and neutrals throughout her house; it was magical… Your table reminds me of her tables. She would bring in green Christmas trees and pinks for color, but it was always subtle. Thanks for the lovely table idea and for fun memories!! Pinned, of course. <3 Oh, and your kitchen and living rooms are set up pretty much like my last home in California down to the wood shutters on the long window. Love it!!!
Hugs,
Barb 🙂
Thanks so much, Barb! What a lovely comment! Nice to know we have the same taste…enjoy your weekend!
