Early Fall Decorating:
Easy ways to transition to fall…
If you’ve read my blog before, you know that I try to savor every last minute of summer. Sure, I love fall (for the most part) but I can’t get motivated to fully decorate for the season until after Labor Day. So, what do I do during this transitional time? Well, I try to ease into fall with decor that will work for late summer as well as early fall. Today, I’ll show you my fall kitchen decor.
Early Fall Decor in the Kitchen:
For me, it makes sense to decorate the kitchen with items that are in season…
Since our backyard hydrangeas are blooming like crazy, I cut off a bunch and brought them inside.
Everyone seems to love hydrangeas and they’ll so versatile. In the past, I’ve used them in a flower box centerpiece and I’ve also decorated with them in many ways throughout the spring and summer.
For my early fall decor this year, I mixed my green hydrangeas with my blue and white pieces.
To continue with the green color, I added some apples to my fall kitchen decor. After all, apples are in season this time of year.
Pears are also in season. Recently, I found this green ceramic pear at Homegoods. Isn’t it cute?…
Though, I can’t decide if I like the shine or if I’d rather have a matte finish. (You can see my reflection in the middle of it.) Maybe that will be a future DIY…
I’ve always loved adding green to my blue and white collection. In fact, last year I decorated with similar pieces.
Yes, I’ll make any excuse to decorate with blue and white! Check out the other ways I’ve decorated with blue and white in the fall!
This year, I bought these adorable seagrass glasses. So far, I’ve used them to decorate my summer bar cart, on an outdoor table setting and now I’m using them as vases for the hydrangeas on my windowsill. Isn’t it great to find several uses for things?
Another example is my blue and white planter. Last Christmas I filled it with poinsettias! For now, I’ll just enjoy the hydrangeas and the late summer – early fall look!
As you can see, I barely made a dent when I cut a bunch of flowers for my home! Look at these crazy hydrangea bushes!
Hopefully, I’ve inspired you with my early fall decor ideas for the kitchen.
Once September arrives, I’ll be adding more autumn accessories to my home. No need to rush things… I plan to enjoy every moment that’s left of the wonderful summer season! If you can’t wait, here are 7 simple kitchen fall decor ideas!

Your hydrangeas are just gorgeous and I’m so jealous these all came from your yard. It’s true I never get tired of seeing beautiful hydrangea arrangements and I love the way you use them to decorate for early fall. Pinning!
Thanks so much Michelle! Hydrangeas obviously love heat and humidity because that’s all we’ve had this summer! Great hopping with you, friend!
Love the soft greens of your hydrangeas, and how fabulous you can go outside and cut them. Beautiful vignettes.
Thanks so much, Marty! We added them the year we put in the pool because the deer can’t reach them with the fence. They’re blooming like crazy this year!
Shelley, I absolutely adore hydrangeas in any form and your the different arrangements you created are so lovely! Pinned! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction
Wowza, each idea is absolutely beautiful. Love the colors, where you decorated and the vessels of the flowers. So so pretty. Hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!
These ideas look perfect for transitioning to fall!!
LOVE love those gorgeous hydrangeas and green apples. Just an amazing way to show off your blue/white pieces. You have such a beautiful kitchen, Shelley. I always love seeing what you’re up to. Perfect was to head into Fall!
Shelley, your green hydrangeas are gorgeous. You are so lucky. Ours are pretty much gone for the season. The green looks so good with the blue ceramic pieces. It’s a very nice look for this time of year.
Yes to blue in the fall! It feel SO cozy and pairs well with so many warm colors. I adore it!
I love that you’re taking a leisurely approach to the fall transition. A total emersion into fall can be too jarring. The shiny pears are wonderful.
I always admire your decorating style. I love how you make a statement, subtly, and always classy. The touches of green are so pretty!
Love those hydrangea. Stunning with the blue. I love that you are transitioning into fall with them.
Shelley, I always appreciate your clean decor lines and use of those blues and greens. Everything looks perfect for fall.
Shelley, Your kitchen is one of my favorites. You know I love all the blue and white. I have hydrangeas, but need to plant more like yours. We had a large row of similar, and one year they just all died at about 10 years old. It was kind of crazy. The green is so pretty in the blue and white. Enjoy the upcoming fall season.
Absolutley gorgeous transitional ideas! I love the blue and white with the pretty green hydrangeas. Your kitchen is always a treat to see. Looking forward to what you will share for fall too. Thanks for joining the hop!
Your gorgeous home is ready for fall with your hydrangeas and green apples.
Happy Fall,
Kippi
