Before we begin, I want to thank my sweet friend, Cecelia from My Thrift Store Addiction for hosting this hop today.  For the first stop on the tour, she’s sharing Mother’s Day gifts from the garden.  Please be sure to stop by her lovely blog to say hello.  Also, please visit the bloggers listed at the end of this post for even more Mother’s Day ideas!

If you are just arriving from Shiplap and Shells, – Welcome!  I’m sure you were blown away by Kim’s gorgeous cottage garden!  Seriously, her whole yard belongs in a magazine…actually, it has been featured in a magazine!  If you haven’t visited her blog yet, make sure you do!

Now, let’s head outdoors to see my Mother’s Day Table Setting Decor…

Here in New Jersey, the spring weather has arrived!  The sun is shining, the trees are blooming and the grass is green!  With this lovely weather, I just had to set a table outside for Mother’s Day!  Now, my mom can spend the day with us and not have to worry.

By the time that Sunday arrives, my flower gardens should be blooming and will provide the perfect background for my festive Mother’s Day table decor!

When the weather cooperates, we like to spend as much time as possible out on the patio.  Since we can’t travel yet, we try to make our outdoor living areas feel like a vacation.  While you’re here, be sure to read my tips to create a backyard staycation!

Mother’s Day Table Setting Decor with an Island Vibe:

For this year’s Mother’s Day table, I brought a little British Colonial style out to the patio.  From the blue and white porcelain, to the cane and seagrass pieces, I tried to create of feeling of being on vacation.  Plus, we just opened our pool so that helped set the scene!

When decorating my outdoor table, I’m always looking for ways to disguise the umbrella pole.  For this table, I used some simple palm leaves to add some height while hiding the pole.  Since the palm leaves are faux, they’ll obviously last until Mother’s Day.  Though, I didn’t even bother with fresh flowers anywhere.  Like I said, by the time Mother’s Day arrives, my gardens should be full of flowers so I don’t really need more on the table.

On each place setting, I carried over some green with my cabbage plates.  They helped break up the neutrals while adding to the textures.

For my place mats, I alternated between tan and white striped and my blue woven ones.  Originally, I did this because I only had four of the blue placemats but I actually like how the mixture added variety.  I’ll just pretend this was intentional.

If you read my blog, you’ve seen my seagrass woven placemats before.  They’re definitely one of my favorite accessories that coordinate with almost any style.  Recently, I also purchased the new seagrass glasses – which I adore!  Expect to see even more of them on future tables!  By the way, I even got crafty and made the little cane candle holders.  Check out my tutorial on how to make a cane wrapped vase (and candle holders.)

In addition to the cane candle holders, I also made the napkin rings.  Since I’m always looking for simple ways to personalize my napkin rings, I frequently make them out of a paper towel holder and wired burlap ribbon.  For this version, I wrapped a decorative paper napkin around the burlap and taped them in the back.  Luckily, I had the perfect napkins in my stash to match the table.

To pull together the colors from the napkin ring, I chose plain navy napkins.  They added just the right amount of color and I love the way they stand out against the green cabbage plates.  Speaking of the cabbage plates, here are some more tables I’ve used them on!

Hopefully, my mom will appreciate the island vibe I was going for on this Mother’s Day table setting!

If she leaves here feeling like she’s been on vacation, I’ve succeeded!

Now, all that’s left to do is plan the menu.  Maybe we’ll grill something.

Hopefully, the weather will be nice that day so we can sit out and enjoy the sunshine!  To carry over some of the table style, I even added some blue and white porcelain to the seating area.  It’s always fun to bring out some indoor accessories when entertaining outdoors!
