Piano Decorating

You might remember a few months back, we bought a used piano for my son.

Well, I finally got around to decorating it.  As you can see, this is what the piano looked like in our living room the day it arrived.

I knew I wanted to add some tropical touches so I started with the Caribbean map I bought years ago.  Recently, I had it framed at Michael’s.

I swear I had them use no-glare glass, but I see some glare here!

I bought this artificial coral on sale at Pottery Barn about a month ago.

And this precious photo of my boys in a woven Pottery Barn frame has made its rounds throughout my house over the years.

My old boss brought me back this wooden box from Shanghai, China many years ago.

And there you have my new look…well for now that is.

The Pier One lantern is standing where a lamp will stand in the future.  I bought a beautiful glass one the other day at Marshall’s and while filling the base with shells, I shattered the glass.  I think I will try something a little different next time around!

Anyway, this is the new look for now!

Once again, the before…

And the after…

I know, the bench is looking a little bare.  I still need to replace that nasty little cushion!  At least I am making some progress!

Any new vignettes around your home?

  1. What a difference some accent pieces make!! A lamp will look great on the end of the piano – just don't break it this time!! Love your Caribbean print!

  2. I agree! A lamp will definitely complete the look. Looks much better decorated. Believe it or not, I have used the word vignette for years.

  3. I think a piano is hard and this looks beautiful I do think a lamp would be good or even a floor lamp next to the piano. Great vignette. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty

  4. Love the framed map. There are different grades of non glare glass. The museum glass is absolutely glare free and very expensive.

  5. Looks great! Nope, never used vignette before blogging, lol. Thanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY!Blessings,Cindy

  6. Oh my goodness, I know this is an old post, but I was looking for some new decor ideas for on top our piano and this came up on Pinterest and we have the exact same piano! Did you ever get a cushion for your piano bench? We threw the one that came with the bench away when we bought the piano because it was also nasty, but I never bothered you're placing it in now I'm thinking that might be a good place to add some color and texture .
