Simple Fall Porch Decor – Colors of the Season
Isn’t it funny how the change in temperature suddenly makes us in the mood to cozy-up our homes for the fall season? Well, I’m happy to report that it finally feels like fall here in the northeast. So today, I’m sharing my simple fall porch decor!

Simple Fall Porch Decor – Colors of the Season:
Since fall is such a vibrant season, I love to use orange when decorating my porch…
Every year, I think about possibly going neutral on my front porch decor…but I always return to colors. In fact, when I bought the wheat filled door basket, I was definitely heading in the neutral direction.
From that point, I took a turn and bought colorful mums! After all, you just have to have mums when decorating a simple fall front porch!
Orange mums and pumpkins really pop against a black door…
Hopefully, the mums in the black urns will be fuller and even more colorful over the next few weeks. Though, I might have to move them forward to get a little more light. My front porch gets shade most of the day.
As you can see, the orange mums in the baskets are already blooming beautifully. These simple harvest baskets add some extra texture and help tie in with the neutral door hanging.
This year, I decided to display some mini pumpkins above my door…
Aren’t these cute?
Last year, I noticed a few people displaying little pumpkins this way…and I loved the idea. Luckily, I happen to have a little ledge below the window so the mini pumpkins fit perfectly. Seriously, they might be my favorite part of my simple fall porch decor! It’s amazing how the little things can make such a difference.
Not only are they cute from the outside, but we get to enjoy them from inside too! Every time I walk through my foyer, they bring a smile to my face.
*For even more photos with mini pumpkins above front doors, read Woodstock, Vermont in the Fall. In that blog post, I take you on a virtual stroll through that beautiful town in the fall!
The mini pumpkins coordinate with the orange mums…
A couple lanterns add some coziness and will be pretty at night…
Though, I have to remember to switch these candles for battery operated ones for convenience (and safety).
A new doormat freshens up the porch and makes it feel welcoming…
After too many years of wear and tear, my old doormat had seen better days. In fact with all the rain, my porch has seen better days as well. A good power washing is definitely in order around here! That’s one reason I clustered my decor closer to the door this year. In previous years, I’ve spread the plants and pumpkins out a little farther. Always another project to add to the list…
Instead of buying too many fresh pumpkins that I’ll eventually throw out, I mixed a couple faux pumpkins in with the real ones…
Before long, we’ll be adding more carved pumpkins to the mix. My front porch definitely takes on a new look as Halloween gets closer. Be sure to check out how I transition from fall to Halloween on the porch!
Home sweet home…yes that pretty much sums it up!

Thank you! The basket is just another Homegoods purchase. They always have such a great selection!
Lovely! I like those little pumpkins too!
Thanks, Carole! I think I will be adding them every year!
Perfect porch decor, Shelley! I love the little pumpkins up there on the door ledge. I might copy you on this one! My door is similar to your, I need to see if they fit. Enjoy your week!
Thanks, Cristina! Definitely give it a try. It’s such a simply but fun addition!
Shelley, Your front porch is so inviting.
Thanks Bonnie! I just hope I can keep the mums alive!
I use oranges and burgundy in fall decorating. Love everything! Especially the basket on the door and the little pumpkins above the door.
Thanks, Penny! The mini pumpkins are my favorite!
Shelley, it all looks so nice and inviting! I love the mums and wish I had more luck with them. Not sure what my problem is. I bought those Pier One lanterns in four different sizes…love them. Happy Fall!
Thanks, Becky! Yes, aren’t those Pier One lanterns great? I need to get a few more. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Stunning fall porch! Great idea to mix some faux with the real pumpkins. I live in Florida and those pumpkins rot so fast.
Happy fall,
Kippi
Thanks so much, Kippi! Yes, I could imagine the heat would be too much for them. Thanks for joining us again this week!
Seeing your porch reminds me that I want two baskets like you used on your porch for mums. I know you’ll do something equally pretty this fall!
Thanks Paula! We just had our porch and sidewalk power washed so I guess I should get moving before things get messy again! Have a great weekend!
Absolutely stunning! Love the mums.
Thanks, Amy! Enjoy the rest of your week!
