May Recap (Home Decorating, Shopping and More!)
Happy weekend and welcome to the Saturday Spotlight! Each week, I like to focus on a different theme or topic to inspire you. This week, I’m going to share a May recap of things that didn’t make the blog this month. From home decorating ideas to shopping, reading and recipes, I hope I inspire you with my look back at the month of May!

May Recap – Girls’ Weekend in Maine:
In early May, we enjoyed beautiful New England…
At the beginning of the month, I joined some friends for a girls’ weekend in southern Maine. Although the weather was chilly, we still had a wonderful time, shopping, dining and enjoying each other’s company. We even saw an Eagles tribute band one night. So much fun! May Recap – Designer Showhouse Visit:
Toured the 2025 Mansion in May…
Every two or three years, the Women’s Association for Morristown, Medical Center sponsors a popular fundraiser – The Mansion in May designer showhouse and garden tour. This year’s mansion, a 17 room stone house known as “Wildfair” is located in Chester Township, New Jersey. Of course, we chose a rainy day to visit…but that didn’t stop us from enjoying the estate!
One of my favorite spaces in the mansion had to be the insanely beautiful, primary suite. Just imagine relaxing in that tub and gazing out at the gardens after a long day. Who needs a vacation if your bathroom looks like that?! If I ever get around to remodeling my bathroom, Virtue Tile and Design is on my list to call!
With a mix of traditional and modern, the dining room was absolutely stunning! Since I’m a huge fan of decorating with blue and green, I thought the designer, Kristin Ashley Interiors nailed the look! When I browsed through her website portfolio, I recognized some of her work from previous Mansion in May houses. Apparently, she’s been one of my favorites for many years!

May Recap – Memorial Day Decorating:
Displayed a few American flags…
To honor the heros we lost serving our country, we proudly displayed American flags around our home for Memorial Day. This year, I added a bunch to a vase to complement the existing blue decor in my foyer. In previous years, I’ve decorated this space in similar red, white and blue for the patriotic holidays.
May Recap – Recent Reading:
Yes, this book is worth the hype…
If you’re a fan of historical fiction, you have to read The Women! This emotional story honoring the nurses who served in Vietnam was eye opening and heartbreaking…yet inspiring. It’s one of those books that stays with you even after you’re finished reading. For me, it was even more meaningful to read it in the weeks leading up to Memorial Day. I highly recommend that you add it to your list!
A new release from another favorite author…
As you know, I’m also a huge fan of Kristy Woodson Harvey. On May 27th, she released her latest novel, Beach House Rules just in time for summer reading season! So far, I’m about half way through and I’m loving the female relationships like in so many of her books. Once again, she entertains the reader with her southern charm and humor while exploring the meaningful bonds of friends and family. Grab this one for your beach bag!
May Shopping Finds:
Since I’m always looking for pretty things, here are some that caught my eye…
Lately, I’m drawn to light coastal blues and this pillow cover is just perfect!
Speaking of coastal, how cute are these glass beads?
To continue with the coastal theme, how pretty is this light blue lamp?
If you want to add a touch of greenery to a table or shelf, this faux plant is perfect for those of us without green thumbs!
