Casual Table Setting Ideas for Fall:

If your family is like mine, you spend most of your time in the kitchen…

Since we like to keep things simple at our home, we eat most of our meals in the kitchen.  So, it only made sense to decorate my casual fall table setting in there…

Casual Fall Table Setting Ideas with Blue and Gold

Seasonal Colors for a Casual Fall Table Setting:

To welcome fall to our home, I brought in some traditional autumn colors…

This year, I combined gold and amber…but also threw in some blue!  If you regularly read my blog, you know that I look for any excuse to add blue or navy to my decor!

Gold and Blue Fall Table Setting Ideas

On my table, I included navy napkins and blue buffalo checks to add an extra punch of color to all the golds and neutrals.  For my centerpiece, I layered bunches of artificial golden stems inside my burlap flower box.  Previously, I had a striped ribbon attached to the outside of the box so I simply changed the ribbon to buffalo checks to match my table.

Simple DIY Projects for a Casual Fall Table:

Speaking of the burlap flower box, this was one of the easiest DIY projects, ever!…

For all the details, read my blog post –  How to Make a Simple DIY Flower Box.  I have a feeling I’ll be changing out the ribbon again to reuse the flower box every season.  Hopefully, no one gets tired of seeing it!

Gold and blue casual fall table setting ideas in a white kitchen

For the napkin rings, I just wrapped a buffalo check wired ribbon around a section of paper towel roll.  Using the paper towel roll kept the “napkin rings” uniform and made it easy to slide each napkin through.

Then to add a decorative fall touch, I tucked a couple pieces of wheat under each napkin ring.  (Yes, another super-easy DIY!)

Decorate with Textures – Casual Table Setting Ideas:

In addition to the wheat on each place setting, I continued with textures across the table…

How cute are these glass hurricanes filled with some adorable raffia pumpkins?  I also layered each setting using my seagrass chargers.

Casual Table Setting Ideas – White Plates:

For versatility, you can’t go wrong with white plates…

Whether you want a formal or casual look for your table, you really should invest in a set of white dishes.  Luckily, there are so many styles and price points that there are plenty to choose from these days.

White or cream place mats are nice to have as well.  They’re great basics that will work with almost any color or style.

Coordinate the Kitchen to Match the Table:

It’s pleasing to the eye to see cohesive colors…

Of course, the whole kitchen doesn’t have to match perfectly, but I like to carry some of the colors or accessories over to the rest of the kitchen.  As you can see, I already had some blue and some wheat on my counters….

But…when I decorated my mantel last week, I hadn’t yet decided on the colors for my fall table.  I guess I could have coordinated the colors a little better.

Then again, fall hasn’t even arrived yet!  At the rate I’m going, I’ll be redecorating again before the season ends!  Speaking of redecorating, see how I repurposed items from this table for a new tablescape in the dining room!   And here are some more fall table decorating ideas!

  18. Shelley – your fall update in your kitchen, table and family room are a welcome breath of fresh air! The fall decor pieces are just enough – not too much and not too little. And the consistency that flows from your kitchen sink (love the sunlight on the floor) all the way to the fire place is just so warm, inviting and genuine. I love the white pitchers, sheafs of wheat and the blue highlight color. I am just going to pin this WHOLE post (AND the dining room) post if that’s okay with you. (Plus I love the floor plan of your house!)

    1. Kristine, you just made my day! What an incredibly sweet comment and I’m so flattered that you like my decor. Thank you so much! And yes, please pin all you want!
