Coastal Connecticut Places and Spaces:
Stroll through charming Mystic Connecticut…
Yes, you probably remember the 80’s movie, Mystic Pizza. Well, the place actually exists in the coastal Connecticut town of Mystic.

Actually, Connecticut is known for having great pizza. The coastal city of New Haven is famous for their thin crust pizza and supposedly rivals New York for having the “best pizza in the world!”

In the coastal town of Mystic, you’ll find a charming village filled with shopping and restaurants overlooking the Mystic River. It’s a beautiful place to spend the weekend or just stop in for a day of browsing.
A pretty place to stay in coastal Connecticut…
So far, I haven’t had the chance to stay overnight in Mystic, CT but if I do, The Whaler’s Inn Hotel is on my list!

Not only is this hotel in a fabulous location…just steps away from the best shops and restaurants, but it’s so charming! As soon as we stepped into the lobby, I felt right at home. Immediately, I noticed the nautical vibes and historic architecture were just my style. And I can never get enough blue and white!

Besides a bunch of well known hotel chains in the area, here are a few more unique hotels in downtown Mystic, Connecticut…
- Steamboat Inn – a boutique hotel on the Mystic River
- Delamar Hotel – a new luxury hotel also on the river.
- Eileen of Mystic – an artist run bed and breakfast.
Coastal Connecticut – Shopping in Chester:
Decorating inspiration from a beautiful store…
Not far from the Connecticut coast, popular designer and lifestyle expert, Nora Murphy opened a store! This past spring, I visited The Little Shop in the adorable town of Chester, CT.

If you’re familiar with her work, you know that her style is classic country mixing vintage with coastal. Walking into her store, felt like walking into one of her beautiful design books! To see more photos of Nora Murphy’s The Little Shop, read all about when I visited her store.

*Just recently, Nora moved her store to a new location in the town of Essex, CT. This fall, I plan on shopping there so I’ll share more photos then. From what I’ve seen on her Instagram, she has decorated separate rooms to bring her books to life. I can’t wait to visit!
Coastal Connecticut – Shopping in Fairfield:
A new design store in Fairfield, Connecticut…
During my spring visit to Nora Murphy’s store, the store manager told me about a new home decorating store located in Fairfield, Connecticut. This weekend, I had the chance to stop by the beautiful Lolli Sutton boutique!

From following their Instagram page, I knew I was going to love the place…

In the store, you’ll find gorgeous vintage pieces mixed with new home decor and accessories.

Obviously, with one of a kind pieces, the merchandise changes frequently. So, this is what the store looked like I the day I visited. Lot of blue and white, coastal touches, block prints, bamboo, textures…all the things I love!

If you’re ever in Fairfield, CT, be sure to stop by! In the meantime, here is their website – Lolli Sutton.
*By the way, I purchased a gorgeous block print table runner on my shopping trip. If you want to see how I styled it, read – Neutral Fall Tablescape (Simple and Classic Ideas).
A visit to the Marea flagship store…
While in Fairfield, I stopped in influencer, Liz Joy’s flagship store, Marea. What a fun experience to try on all the clothes I’ve been eyeing up on her website! After trying on almost every item, I ended up buying a beautiful halter dress which happened to be on the sale rack. Such a great store!

A fabulous new pizzeria…
After a day of shopping in Fairfield, I was starving! Just a few steps away from Marea, I stumbled upon a new pizzera – Cosetta. Of course, I didn’t even notice the “coming soon” sign on the front…so I tried to open the door. An employee let me in and explained that they’d be opening in a couple weeks. When I went to leave, they insisted that I have a slice of pizza. So, I stayed, chatted with the owners and a had a delicious slice before heading home! Great pizza…great service…I’ll be back!
