Halloween Decorating Ideas – Indoor and Out (Saturday Spotlight)

Happy Weekend and welcome to the Saturday Spotlight!  Wow, October is flying by and it’s almost Halloween! Of course, I’ve waited until the last minute to buy Halloween candy so now I’ll probably get stuck with all the reject candy.  Hopefully, the trick or treaters won’t get mad and egg our house or something…lol!  Anyway, with Halloween approaching, I thought I’d try to inspire you with some Halloween decorating ideas for indoors and out!

Halloween Decorating Ideas for Inside and Outside:

In our house, we never go too crazy with the Halloween decor but I have come up with a few cute Halloween ideas over the years…

Well… maybe that photo isn’t in the “cute” Halloween category, but some of my other ideas in that blog post would qualify!  Be sure to check out all those fun ideas!

Halloween Decorating Ideas – Pumpkin Carving:

Like many of you, we carve a bunch of pumpkins a few days before Halloween.  Even though my boys are teens now, they still enjoy our tradition.  This year, my older son is a senior in high school.  Obviously, pumpkin carving day will be extra special…if not for him, definitely for me!

Alternatives to Pumpkin Carving:

Ok, now I’m getting all sentimental about my boys getting older!  Years ago, one of them had a family school assignment to create a pumpkin from a favorite book character…

Of course, it was no surprise we ended up designing a Spongebob pumpkin!  Boys…

So, if you want to try something different, try creating a pumpkin based on a book or TV character.  Plus, you could carve the pumpkin or you could paint or draw on one.  The possibilities are endless!

If you’d rather decorate your pumpkin in a more sophisticated look, try painting some buffalo checks…

Black and White Buffalo Check Pumpkins

Recently, I shared my simple tutorial on the blog so be sure to check it out.  For my project, I used white pumpkins but you could also use orange…or just paint them orange and black.  That way, your pumpkins would have more of a Halloween vibe!

Halloween Shopping (Ideas for Indoors and Out):

Whether you’re decorating inside or outside this Halloween, you can’t go wrong with witch hats!

To use them in your decor, hang them on your porch or in your foyer…or dress up and scare the trick or treaters!

Or you could really scare those trick or treaters with a creepy skeleton or two…

And for even more Halloween decorating ideas for inside or outside, here are some finds from around the internet:

Hopefully, some of these Halloween decorating ideas will inspire you.  As a reminder, October 26th is National Pumpkin Day and of course, October 31st is Halloween!  It’s almost here!

I cannot tell you how many Halloween’s I have waited until the last possible minute to carve a pumpkin. Not surprisingly, many years I did NOT have a jack-o-lantern on my front porch. Hope you have a wonderful Halloween!!
