Decorating with White Pumpkins – Inspiration for Fall

One of my favorite ways to welcome fall into my home is by decorating with white pumpkins.  Over the years, I’ve used them everywhere from fall table settings and mantels to bar carts and cozy vignettes.  Today, I’m gathering those ideas together (along with a few new ideas).  If you’re looking for easy ways to add a touch of fall to your home, I hope you’ll find some inspiration!  (Updated for 2026).

Create a Fall Table Setting with White Pumpkins:

Feature white pumpkins down the center of your table…

Whether your setting the table for Thanksgiving or any fall gathering, this is a pretty way to display those white pumpkins.  For my centerpiece, I started with a burlap table runner and added white pumpkins, eucalyptus, candles and pine cones.  With the focus on the center of the table, I kept the place settings soft and neutral.  To see more details of this table setting, read – Elegant Thanksgiving Table.White pumpkins, candles and eucalyptus on burlap table runner - decorating with white pumpkins

For a more casual version of that table setting, I added a mum and a couple faux pumpkins to my kitchen table one year.

An easy white pumpkin centerpiece…

To keep things simple, elevate a real or faux pumpkin on a cake stand.  For this centerpiece, I wrapped some faux bittersweet berries around the pumpkin and layered in leaves and pine cones below.  To see the rest of this table setting, read – How to Set a Thanksgiving Table with Warm Fall Colors.

Style a Bar Cart with White Pumpkins:

Neutral items and textures work beautifully with white pumpkins…

For this bar cart, I let the mums take center stage and tucked in a couple white pumpkins for texture and a seasonal touch.  Their creamy color complements the flowers and keeps the whole display feeling soft and neutral.  To see two more of my fall bar carts, read – 3 Ways to Decorate a Bar Cart for Fall.

Decorate a Fall Mantel with White Pumpkins:

Pair white pumpkins with colorful fall foliage…

For this fall mantel, I lined up three white pumpkins in front of a gold-framed mirror.  The pumpkins tie in with the white vase while allowing the vibrant leaves to stand out.  To see more of this mantel and a few others, read – Simple Elegant Fall Decor (Tips to Style a Mantel).

Make Mini White Pumpkin Luminaries:

Display pumpkin candles in glass hurricanes…

For a cozy fall centerpiece, I turned mini white pumpkins into candle holders.  Then, I simply displayed them in glass hurricanes.  All you need to do is cut a small hole in the top of the pumpkin to snugly fit a tea light candle.  To add texture (and a lovely scent), I nestled each pumpkin into a layer of coffee beans.

Use martini glasses for a similar display…

If you don’t own any glass hurricanes, get creative with your glassware.  For a variation, I tried the same technique with martini glasses and loved how they turned out!  Their height and distinctive shape add interest to a fall centerpiece.  Also, they’d look cute on individual place settings.

If you don’t love the smell of coffee beans, here are some alternative fillers…

  • candy corn
  • dried corn kernels
  • small pebbles
  • dried beans

Pair White Pumpkins with Hydrangeas:

Create a simple and festive fall centerpiece…

For this fall centerpiece, I arranged mini white pumpkins and candles along a wooden bread board.  Then I tucked hydrangeas from my yard in the spaces between them.  Such an easy way to bring a little fall warmth to the kitchen.

Mix hydrangeas with a white pumpkin in a terra cotta pot…

Add a touch of fall to your coffee table with this simple arrangement.  Once again, I paired a white pumpkin with more hydrangeas…but this time in a terra cotta pot.  In this situation, I used a battered operated candle so I didn’t have to worry about leaving an unattended candle.

More Simple White Pumpkin Vignettes:

Display them in a tiered tray…

One year, I mixed pine cones and white pumpkins in a wired tray on my foyer table.  I loved the way the textures worked with the pumpkins.

Fill a pretty bowl with white pumpkins and faux bittersweet berries…

This could work as a simple fall centerpiece or as an addition to a bookshelf.  For extra ambiance, mix in some fairy lights.

Group white pumpkins and fall items on a round tray…

For this simple vignette, I gathered white pumpkins, a bundle of wheat and accessories on a round wooden tray.  This is an easy way to add fall charm to a coffee table or kitchen island…and can easily be moved if you need more space.  With the neutral colors, you can display this vignette from early fall through Thanksgiving.

Subtle kitchen accents…

When we remodeled our kitchen, I wanted to keep the seasonal decor understated.  That year, I added a few white pumpkins and bittersweet berries to the stove mantel.  To see the rest of my decor that year, read –Simple Autumn Decorating in the Kitchen.

Mix neutral colors and textures…

For this bathroom countertop vignette, I filled a glass hurricane with hazelnuts and a white candle to complement the white candle in front.  With the various heights and textures, this was a simple way to liven up a dull corner.

Create Contrast with Black and White:

A simple white pumpkin stands out against a black piano…or any black background…

Sometimes, one pumpkin is all you need!  Here, I place a single white pumpkin on our black piano for a simple fall accent.  You can create a similar look on a black console table, a dark bookshelf or a painted cabinet.  The contrast really makes a statement.

Style white pumpkins for Halloween:

One year, I created a Halloween tablescape featuring white pumpkins decorated as a jack-o-lanterns.  With just a Sharpie, I gave each table setting a fun and festive look!  To see more details on this fall table setting, read – Halloween Table Setting Ideas to Try This Year.

  1. I love white pumpkins too! They are my favorite. I have quite a few fake ones and sometimes find the big ones at Walmart. I recently found some of the small boo ones at Target. I was thrilled to find them because I have trouble finding them as well. If you can go to a pumpkin patch or garden center, you'll probably have better luck finding what you want.

  2. I have a thing for white pumpkins this year as well. Just sprayed them with a couple of coats of polyurethane so that they'll last through the season. They pack a nice decorating punch!
