The Piano – A New Space to Decorate
Yesterday, I cleared out the corner of my living room to prepare for the piano delivery.
And Rosie was happy to help out!
Honestly, I was happy to move the tree to another room.
I never mentioned it before, and maybe you figured it out on your own…but the tree is a fake! I do not have a green thumb and there is no way a live one of that size would have survived in my house! I was hoping the subject would never come up and I hope you don’t think I am a fraud for trying to pass it off as a real tree, therefore, appearing as someone who could actually keep one alive! Anyway, it’s just a big dust collector anyway but I never knew what to do with that corner…
Until now…
Meet the new piano.
Well, new to us that is!
It is actually 48 years old.
Like I said the other day, the piano needs a few tune ups and a little work but it is basically in very good condition. I don’t even know why I had cold feet right before I bought it. I went back and read my previous post when I said I feared that the piano could “wreck my room”. Oh please, what was with all the drama? If anything, I think the piano enhances the room and brings life to a corner that was previously occupied by an impostor trying to appear as a real tree!
I usually accuse my husband of being the one who can’t handle change, but I am actually guilty of that myself sometimes! Remember last year when I brought home our darling puppy? I was the one who was all apprehensive and resentful of the change. Now look at me, I am in love with that dog and can’t get anything done because I am kissing her all day. Now, I am not saying that I will be kissing the piano all day, but I am happy to have it in my house and I already feel like it has brought some life to the room.
Of course, I still need to add a proper lamp
and something in the blank space to brighten up the corner.

I could definitely do something like that in my room.
Maybe not the same colors, but the feel of this vignette.
There are so many ways I could decorate the space.
So it’s time to start shopping for some fun accessories!
But actually, I think I already found my best accessory!

I have a big nautical map framed in my living room that I need to post about soon – it's a DIY – and a map would be fun over the piano like your inspiration photo. We have a piano in our living room as well and I'm still struggling with how to accessorize it. Currently I have my great-grandmother's buffet mirror hanging above it. You can see some pics on my home tour. Over time I'm sure it will come to you. I do love the inspirational picture…the piano is almost identical to yours.Amelia

A piano adds "presence" to a room as nothing else can. YOu'll be glad that you bought it when you get it all "fixed" like you want it. Last year I had my piano stool added and covered for the first time and I wonder why I didn't do it sooner. It is so much more comfortable and the fabric adds interest to the room. It takes very little to recover one. The possibilities for a beautiful piano vignette is limitless and can change on a whim. Looks nice in your pretty room
You know it looks good there. All that worry, and I would have worried, too…but it looks good, and he is happy. What more could you ask for? That room is huge, by the way.

Congratulations on buying your new piano! I was expecting it to look much larger, but the proportions are just right for your room, and it fits absolutely perfectly on that wall. Beautiful! Perfect! What's even more beautiful is your son sitting there playing. Sigh… Your inspiration picture is wonderful, too. You'll have that baby decked out in no time. I just love it!
Oh I think it looks wonderful!!!.. I love the photo of the whole room…It brought such a beautiful thought to mind.. The room now reminds me of a family maybe back in the late 1800's early 1900's before all this technology, sitting in that room as a family, maybe a fire in the fireplace, father smoking his pipe in the chair, children playing on the floor and maybe the mother is playing the piano and they are simply enjoying each other and the music.. What a wonderful addition to this room! 🙂
