Saturday Spotlight – A New Weekly Series

Hello, friends!  I hope you’re enjoying the weekend!  Today, I’d like to welcome you to my new weekly series called – Saturday SpotlightFor awhile, I’ve been thinking about ways to highlight things that I find inspiring.  Sure, over the years I’ve shared “Recent Happenings”, but those posts were very random.  From now on, I’m going to share inspiring ideas on a weekly basis.  From decorating tips, to shopping finds, a pretty Instagram account, etc…you get the idea.

Hopefully, some of my Saturday Spotlight finds will inspire you and help brighten up your weekend!

Let’s get started with what I shared on my blog recently:

Since I love decorating tables, I thought it would be fun to highlight one of my go-to accessories – my round woven placemats…

If you want to see even more table decorating ideas, I’ll be joining a group of bloggers for a St. Patrick’s Day Table hop on Wednesday, March 3rd.  Debbee’s Buzz will be hosting and this week she shared her creative 3 leaf clover napkin fold tutorial!

Shopping Finds:

Even though winter isn’t over yet, I have started some spring home decor shopping…

White flowers in seagrass basket

For instance, this adorable hanging basket arrived this week.  I’ll probably end up hanging it inside somewhere because I’m afraid it might get wet if I hang it on the front door.  Also, I have to be careful about what I hang out there in the spring.  One year, some birds built a nest in one of my spring wreaths!  For weeks, I refused to use the front door because I didn’t want to disrupt their nest!

As I’ve mentioned before, we frequently spend time in Vermont.  While we’re there, I always try to visit to one of my favorite stores – Farmhouse Pottery

As you can see, they had a ton of snow up there on Valentine’s Day weekend.  Of course, the store had some pretty Valentine’s Day merchandise too…

That day, I picked up one of their classic crocks and a cute heart dish…

On a previous trip, I bought the clove candle – which smells amazing!  Every time I visit the store, I end up buying at least one thing!  If you want to take a tour around the beautiful store, check out my Peek Inside the Farmhouse Pottery Store from a couple years ago at Christmastime.

Currently reading:

With all the time we’ve spent at home this year, I’ve managed to read a ton of books.  I’m currently enjoying Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah.

Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah - Saturday Spotlight book

Right now, I’m about halfway through and can’t wait to check out the Netflix series when I’m done.  The book is a nice, easy read following 30 years of a friendship between two women.  Even though I’m about 10 years younger than the main characters, I loved how the story brought back memories of childhood in the 70s and 80s.  Surprisingly, I’ve seen very mixed reviews on the book but so far I’m engaged in the story.

Each week, I’ll be sharing inspiring finds from the internet.  Here are some that caught my eye:

Well, I hope you enjoyed my first Saturday Spotlight!  Each week, I’ll be sharing more so be sure to swing by again!  (Here is the first Saturday Spotlight in March).

  1. We had a couple of birds that kept trying to build a nest on our front light… I caught them the day they were trucking over the dirt and sticks and I felt just awful to keep knocking it of the hanging light but I knew that eventually the nest would blow off anyway and it would have been awful to see baby birds in it instead.

    1. Awe, I should have stopped my birds before it go to far! Normally, we don’t use the front door so it took awhile before I noticed it!

  2. I am going to really enjoy this new series! I must go to Farmhouse Pottery the next time I am in Vermont. I can’t believe that I still haven’t been there.

  3. I’m clicking over to read about the natural placemats. That is what I often use. Great new feature idea! Looking forward to Saturdays!

  4. Nice post, it is sometimes difficult to be inspired staying at home all the time. I read Firefly lane some time ago, and haven’t started watching the series yet, but it is on my list. If you haven’t seen Lupin on Netflix, I highly recommend, different and surprising.

    1. Thanks Carole! No, I haven’t seen Lupin yet. I’m also interested in The Crown and I did watch one episode of Little Fires Everywhere. I loved the book but haven’t had a chance to watch the episodes. Thanks for your input – enjoy the rest of your weekend!

She has a beautiful home and cracks me up with her cat posts on Saturday – or should I say “Caturday”? I’ll have to check out Modern Mrs. Darcy – thanks for the recommendation! Now neither of us will get anything done…Enjoy your week!

  6. I would love to visit that store in Vermont, Shelley. Even thought I don’t usually purchase heart shaped items, I would have fallen hard for the one you bought.
