July Wrap Up (Decorating, Shopping and More!)

Happy weekend and welcome to the Saturday Spotlight!  How is it already August?!!  Around here, we don’t rush through the summer.  If you think about it, summer doesn’t officially end until September 22nd…so technically, the season isn’t even halfway over.  So, if you’re already thinking ahead to fall, I’m sorry to disappoint you.  Today, I’m sharing things that didn’t make the blog during the month of July.  From summer decorating ideas to books, recipes, shopping, and more…here’s my July wrap up!

July Wrap Up – Hydrangeas & Decorating:

With all the rain we’ve had, my hydrangea bushes are bursting with blooms…

Since I don’t have a green thumb, I’m always happy when I have success in the flower garden…even though I can’t really take credit for it!

Decorating with hydrangeas…

Needless to say, I’ve been clipping flowers and bringing them inside so I can enjoy them.  There’s nothing more classic than a blue and white vase filled with hydrangeas.  Such a Nancy Meyers – East coast summer vibe!

July Wrap Up – Simple Summer Vibes:

Enjoying the late afternoon sun…

During the summer months, our living room gets flooded with beautiful late afternoon sun.  It makes me want to spend time in there during that time of day.  In fact, if you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably seen my late afternoon reels.  It’s amazing how just a little sunshine can make a space feel so inviting.

July Wrap Up – Recent Reading:

In July,  I read Emily Giffin’s latest book…

Love You More was one of those books that was hard to put down!  After a successful doctor becomes engaged she receives an unexpected phone call from her past love.  She finds herself reevaluating her choices and has to decide between the future she has planned and the past that she never fully let go.  Though slightly predictable, I enjoyed her writing and the theme of first loves and friendships.  Overall, a great beach read!

July Wrap Up – Delicious Recipes:

Lately, I’ve been trying some new recipes…

Since I’m not a food blogger, I didn’t think to style a pretty plate but I did grab a couple photos of what I’ve made lately.  First, I tried Sticky Garlic Beef and Brocolli from @quodianrecipes on Instagram.  For my version, I added some extra veggies, doubled the sauce and left out the sesame seeds (since I forgot to buy them).  The recipe was a hit with my family!

On another day, I made Chicken Limone from @lesliestern on Instagram.  We loved the lemon-garlic combo and devoured most of the dish on the first night.  So good!

Although it’s not a recipe, here’s something I’ve been doing with my food…

Being the hypochondriac that I am, I’m trying my best to avoid the cyclospora outbreak!  During July, I stopped buying certain lettuces and became careful with the fruit I bought.  Since I add blueberries to my Greek yogurt every morning, I decided to soak them in boiling water first.  Who knows if it helps…but I’m not taking any chances!  What have you done to avoid the parasite?
