Decorating with Wreaths for Christmas – Ideas and Tips (Saturday Spotlight)
Happy weekend and welcome to the Saturday Spotlight! Each week, I like to highlight a different theme or topic to inspire you. For instance, are you still looking for Christmas decorating ideas? How about wreaths…do you have enough yet? Yes, I’ll admit I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time searching for Christmas wreath ideas on Pinterest! To save you some time, today I’ve gathered up a bunch of ideas for decorating with wreaths for Christmas.

Ideas for Decorating with Wreaths for Christmas:
Hopefully, some of these examples will inspire you with new ways to decorate with wreaths!
Decorating with Wreaths on the Front Door:
Yes, I know – so original… Sure, there’s nothing groundbreaking about a Christmas wreath on a front door but I do have a couple helpful tips…
Buy a nice looking artificial wreath and then change the bow and/or decorations on it from year to year. I’ve had this one from Home Depot for years and it’s held up beautifully. Originally, I bought it for my front door but I’ve hung it in a few places like my mantel this year.
If you decide to buy a fresh wreath, try to buy one that’s freshly made so it lasts longer. Keep it outside or in a cool garage until you are ready to hang it and then be sure to mist it with water. For years, I would buy a live wreath each year but they can be a bit pricy…and then you have to dispose them after Christmas. It just wasn’t worth the hassle for me anymore. After all, most of our guests don’t even come through the front entrance!
Decorate with Wreaths on the Back of Chairs:
Each year, I like to add something new to my Christmas decorations. As you’ll see on my recent Christmas house tour, I hung mini boxwood wreaths on the back of my dining room chairs. Obviously, I didn’t invent this idea but I’ve seen so many of these Christmas wreath ideas on Pinterest, that I just had to try it!
To coordinate with the rest of my decor, I chose navy blue velvet for the ribbons and finished the look with a gold bell on each. If I decide to go with a different color scheme next year, I can simply change the ribbon. In that blog post, you’ll also see a few more ways I decorated with wreaths in my home.
Mantel Decorating with Wreaths for Christmas:
Another simple wreath idea is to hang one over your fireplace. Though if you’re like me and have a stone fireplace, it might be a little challenging to attach the wreath. Don’t worry, I came up with a super easy last minute mantel decor idea…
Just lean a large mirror on your mantel and hang a wreath over the front. Done. Just make sure your mantel is wide enough so you can lean the mirror back so it doesn’t fall forward. Being an overly cautious person, I also stuck a tiny furniture pad to the mantel to help prevent the mirror from sliding forward. (Actually, you can see it at the bottom of the mirror above.) Safety first, my friends!
Decorate with Wreaths on Windows:
In my kitchen, I like to try out different Christmas decorations in the window above the sink. One year, I hung a simple wreath with gingham ribbon to coordinate with my farmhouse Christmas theme.
Decorate with Wreaths on Glass Cabinet Doors:
One of my favorite Christmas wreath ideas is to hang mini wreaths on my kitchen cabinet doors…
I’ve been decorating my cabinets like this for several years. On the inside of each door, I leave hooks attached year round. That way, I can hang the wreaths in minutes without having to reattach them each time.
Decorate with Wreaths on Your Christmas Table:
When you decorate your holiday table, add a mini wreath on each place setting like I did for my Christmas table.
Since I was decorating with red and navy blue, the extra greenery kept the table from looking too patriotic!
Shopping Ideas:
If you like the preserved boxwoods I hung on my dining room chairs, these are the exact ones I bought.
If you want something a little larger with more color, this 22 inch berry wreath is pretty! (Plus, the price is great!)
Or go for even more color with this red berry wreath…
