Decorating with American Flags (Easy Patriotic Ideas)
Happy weekend and welcome to the Saturday Spotlight! With the 4th of July right around the corner, I’ve been pulling out all my patriotic pieces and having fun styling them around the house. Today, I’m rounding up shopping finds, my own flag decor and links to some beautiful inspiration from talented bloggers. Whether you love a classic red, white and blue look or prefer a more subtle vintage vibe, I hope I give you plenty of ideas for decorating with American flags!

How I Decorate with American Flags:
Flags in the kitchen…
Recently, I showcased a simple arrangement of small American flags for a touch of patriotic charm in my kitchen. In this space, I filled a white pitcher with flags to blend with my classic blue and white ginger jars. By keeping the display simple and pairing it with everyday decor, it’s easy to create a patriotic look that feels elegant rather than overly themed.
Flags in the family room…
For a similar look in my family room, I displayed some larger flags in a simple white vase. I love the way the red, white and blue colors stand out against the warm stone backdrop of the fireplace. To include some texture, I added starfish…which could represent a coastal summer or the stars on the American flag!
Last year, I included red, white and blue with a patriotic banner hung across my mantel. I loved how this turned out and the way the flag banner filled the space between the mantel and the fireplace screen.
A patriotic pillow is one of the easiest ways to create a festive look for the summer holidays. To keep my space feeling timeless, I paired my flag pillow with neutral furnishings and classic textiles like my blue and white pillows.
Flags in the foyer…
Last summer, I added a collection of American flags to a blue glass vase in my foyer. I wanted to create a focal point while complementing the blue dresser and my classic accessories. This is a perfect example of how a few American flags can make a space feel festive without overwhelming the room.
A few years ago, I mixed in some flags with a red rose bouquet. Once again, I wanted the space to feel timeless and welcoming. To see more of that foyer table, read – 4th of July Decorating in the Foyer.
