Happy first week of May and welcome to the Saturday Spotlight! As I’ve said before, May is one of my favorite months! The days are getting longer, the entire summer is ahead of us and my boys come home from college! Hooray! To celebrate, I’m sharing a bunch of May inspiration. Welcome May – Decorating Inspiration:
Freshening up the house for spring…
In addition to the greens I’ve added in my foyer, I’ve been playing around with my coffee table styling. It seems like every time I sit down in my living room, I either light a candle or move something around.
I also switched my darker pillows for my springy green floral pillows. With just this simple change, the room feels a lot lighter. And on warmer days, I open the windows every chance I get. I just love this time of year!
In the kitchen, I’ve welcomed May with a floral touch as well. This week, my new indoor-outdoor runner arrived and I’m loving it! Of course, I bought mine from Pottery Barn and then found the exact same one for a better price! Oh well!
Now that the days are getting warmer, we’ll be dining outside more often. As you might have noticed, I love setting a festive table…indoors and out. For more details of my tropical outdoor table idea, see – Mother’s Day table setting.
Local small business shopping…
If you’re shopping for a spring occasion, consider visiting local establishments. After all, it’s National Small Business Week and May 10th is National Small Business Day! This week, I stopped by Larger Cross, a beautiful home decor store in Oldwick, NJ.
This country store has a charming yet sophisticated vibe. It’s filled with seasonal decor, classic home accessories, antiques and unique home products to make your house feel like a home. If you love an updated traditional look with a mix of Ralph Lauren country style, make a trip to this gem in Oldwick, New Jersey!
Online small business shopping…
This week, I also did some small business shopping online. Mother and daughter creators, Carol and Marilyn from It’s More Than a Home released their Mother’s Day collection of hand poured candles. Since I love their style – and of course blue and white, I ordered one. It’s a beautiful addition to my foyer table…and the lovely scent is perfect for spring! This candle collection is already sold out so follow them to stay up to date for their next sale!
May decorating doesn’t have to be a big project. Small swaps, a pretty rug or candle and some greenery can be enough to make your home feel fresh again.
Welcome May – Country Living:
Enjoying the great outdoors…
Last week, I mentioned that we already opened our pool. Although we haven’t started swimming yet, we have been watching the trees and landscaping come to life. Already, we’ve had some rabbits hop through and of course, the birds are constantly chirping.
As in previous years, our favorite duck duo has been stopping by for a quick swim. Aren’t they adorable? From talking with other neighbors, I’ve discovered that the ducks make their way around the neighborhood visiting pools. I guess it’s become a spring tradition for them!
