Summer Home Tour 2023:

2023 Summer Home Tour - open door and flowers

Before we begin, I want to welcome those of you who are arriving from The House on Silverado!  Niky’s home decor is beautiful and I’m sure you loved her screened porch ideas!

When you’re finished here, please be sure to visit the links at the end of the post to see all the beautiful summer tours!

Now, let’s get started with my summer foyer…

Since I didn’t decorate my front porch yet, we’ll begin inside the front door.

From the top of my stairs, you get a full view of my two story foyer.  During the summer months, we get to enjoy the late afternoon sun in the front of the house.  As you can see, the sunshine illuminates the entryway and really brightens up the whole space.

Each season, I like to decorate my console table because it’s the first thing you see when you walk in. Well…that and the staircase.  A few years ago, we updated the stair runner with a sisal look carpet.  Since I wanted the look of sisal without the scratchiness, this runner has worked out well.  Plus, it works with the coastal vibe in my home.

Speaking of coastal, I decorated my console table with some coastal inspired accessories.  I switched out my black table lamp for a slightly distressed white lamp and added some glass containers of shells.

To add a bit of color, I repurposed my blue and white checked beach sarong as a table runner.  If you don’t want to spend a lot of money when decorating, it helps to use what you own.  Maybe I’ll take a look and see what else I have in my beach bag!

To finish this coastal vignette, I filled a seagrass basket with white hydrangeas.  After all, hydrangeas are the perfect summer flower…don’t you agree?

If you want to see some other ways, I’ve decorated with hydrangeas, read 7 Ways to Decorate with Hydrangeas.

Normally, I decorate with more color but I’m loving the mostly white color palette this year.

Summer Foyer to the Dining Room…

If you want to see more color, let’s head into my dining room which is painted navy blue…specifically Sherwin Williams Naval.  For a look back at the previous color, see the reveal blog post.

Navy blue dining room with traditional furniture

In my dining room, I kept the summer decor very simple.  Already, the room had a coastal vibe with the seagrass rug and shell artwork.  So, all I did was add some summer accessories to the table.

First, I headed to my backyard to cut some of my landscaping grasses.  Don’t worry, they are already growing like crazy out there so you can’t even tell I cut back some of them.  I’m not exactly sure what kind of plants they are but they remind me of the grasses you see on the dunes at the beach.  Maybe, they’re the same…who knows!

Anyway, I filled one of my white pitchers with the greenery, added my wooden candlesticks to each side and placed them all on top of my burlap runner.  There…a super easy summer centerpiece!

Lately, we’ve had some lovely weather so I try to open the windows every chance I get.  With the warm breezes blowing in, it even feels like the beach in my dining room!

Living Room next to the Summer Foyer…

Now, let’s take a peek into my living room…where the windows are also open to the summer breezes.

Since my living room has a tropical vibe most of the year anyway, I didn’t really change much.

Though, I did add a few summer inspired accessories to this little table.

Summer Kitchen Tour…

From there, we’ll finish up my summer home tour in the kitchen.

White kitchen with wood floors - decorated for summer

With a white kitchen, it’s easy to decorate for summer.  As always, I added some blue accessories to continue the coastal vibe.  Last year, I shared mostly my family room and outdoor areas, so this year I’ll show you more of the kitchen.

To continue with my white color scheme, I placed a white runner down the center of my island.  From there, I added some white  hydrangeas and some coastal accessories to my round tray.

In my home, round trays are a decorating staple.  By the way, here are some more ways to decorate with them.

Once again, since I didn’t use a ton of color this time, the textures play a bigger part in my decorating.

Though, I did add a bit of blue up on my stove mantel.

After all, blue is the color of the sea…and the summer sky…

So, I added more blue to my corner vignette.  After all, I had to make up for keeping my summer foyer so neutral.  Haha!
