Easy Recipe for Baked Beans with Bacon
Don’t you just love those tried and true family recipes? Years ago, my sister in-law was kind enough make me a book from her collection of family recipes. Occasionally, I like to include some of those recipes here on the blog. That way, you can enjoy them too. Today, I’m sharing one that’s always a hit with friends and family…our easy recipe for baked beans with bacon!
Apparently, my mother in-law used to make these beans for every picnic. So, if you’re looking for easy barbecue side dish ideas or even a simple holiday recipe, I think you’ll enjoy this version!
Easy Recipe for Baked Beans with Bacon:
One reason our baked bean recipe is so easy is because we use canned beans. By substituting canned for dried beans, we save the step of soaking the dried beans.
If you’re like me, you’ll appreciate every shortcut you can take when cooking!
Baked Beans with Bacon Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 4 slices of bacon
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped pepper
- 2 lbs. canned baked beans
- 1 Tablespoon molasses
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 3 Tablespoons dark brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- dash of pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon oregano
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Fry 4 slices of bacon.
- Remove bacon from pan, then drain on paper towel and crumble.
- In remaining bacon fat, fry the onions and peppers.
- Combine with remaining ingredients.
- Pour into a 3 quart baking dish.
- Bake uncovered at 400 degrees for 1 hour.

- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Fry 4 slices of bacon.

In my opinion, this is one of those recipes that tastes just as great the day after.
Or, you could use the leftovers in another dish…
Here are a few ways to use use the leftover baked beans:
- Add the beans to burritos or nachos.
- Cut up hot dogs and mix in the baked beans.
- Top off some baked potatoes with beans and cheese.
