Browsing store displays for mid summer inspiration…
Last week, I spent the day shopping in Princeton, NJ. If you’re ever in New Jersey, I highly recommend a visit to that iconic town! Besides all the lovely boutiques and name brand clothing stores, Princeton is also home to a huge Arhaus Furniture Store!
While we were there, the sales associate mentioned they were having a floor sample sale. Since it’s the end of July, I guess they’re getting ready for all the fall merchandise.
If you happen to be in the market for a swivel chair, the chair shown below was very comfortable! For reference, this is the Kipton Swivel Chair.
Dealing with July Heat:
Stay inside and try some new recipes …
When it’s too hot or stormy to grill outside, I start paging through my cookbooks to find new summer recipes. If it were up to me, I’d eat a simple salad practically every night. Of course, my family gets bored with that…so recently I tried a new recipe from one of my Ina Garten cookbooks – Foolproof. This is the Crispy Mustard Roasted Chicken and you can also find the recipe at Barefoot Contessa.
That day, I was rushing to get dinner on the table so I didn’t get a chance to take any pretty “styled” photos…so this chicken on a pan photo will have to do! And yes, I know some of you prefer not to use the oven in hot weather. Normally, I try to avoid turning on the oven as well but this recipe was super easy…and delicious! Like me, if you get too hot you could just crank up the air conditioning for a little while! And like my husband, you can then complain about the electric bill…haha…
Crazy storms and end of July heatwave…
Like most of the United States, New Jersey has been caught up in a crazy weather pattern this summer! Recently, a wind storm blew through and destroyed a huge section of one of our trees. Hopefully, what’s left of it will survive. Luckily, my husband and sons got right to work cutting up the fallen branches.
Escape the heat and head to the beach…
Normally, it’s a little cooler at the beach (or as we say in New Jersey, “down the shore”). Towards the end of July and into August, the water temperature gets more comfortable for swimming. Although with the heat this summer, colder water is actually more refreshing!
End of July Shopping:
Here are some random mid-summer finds that caught my eye this week…
For those of you looking for an inexpensive rug…that looks expensive, this rug is such a find!
