Throwback Thursday – 15 years
It’s official!
We have lived in our house for 15 years now!
Can you believe it? That sounds like forever to me!
I thought it would be fun to show you a few before and after photos. And when I say “before” I really mean “before”!
Starting with – before there was even a house!
How surreal it was when the builders broke ground!
Before we had a kitchen…
Yes, I took a picture of the kitchen windows because even then I insisted they were too high. And 15 years later I am still complaining about them!
Yeah, there they are still too high.
Mark my word, that will change soon!
Here I am inside our future fireplace in the family room.
And here is a current view from the kitchen into the family room.
The fireplace is only for Santa now.
The front hall looked a bit different then.
I think I like it better now.
And here we are looking from the living room into the conservatory.
Here is the current view.
I hope you enjoyed this little flashback!
We sure have come a long way in 15 years…but we are not finished yet!
Because seriously…
Is a house ever really done?
Great flashbacks! I love the view from your kitchen into your family room. I can't wait to see what you do with the kitchen window.
I can't wait to see when you do a kitchen redo…It's coming right?!
Yes, we are still in the planning stage though!!
OHHHHH!!!! exciting!
Great photos. What fun to see the before and after!
You have a lovely home! What fun to see it from the bones up. Thanks for sharing at Fridays Unfolded!AlisonNancherrow
Yes – you are right – that kitchen window is too high! Oh well, at least now you can say "I told you so"! 🙂 You have a lovely home – thanks for sharing some pictures of it! I think my favorite picture is the one that looks into the conservatory. I don't know why other than I am jealous that you have a conservatory and I don't! Haha
Lovely home….and thanks for the comment about mine. 🙂 stop on by if you are ever in charleston, sc. we can sit on the back porch and have drink. PaulaLocksley Lane
That was a fun tour, Shelley! Isn't it crazy how quickly time passes? After every project I do my husband always says, you must be about done with this place, right? HA! 🙂
Ah that's so great! Your home is beautiful!! As a newbie to NJ, it seems to me like you have more land than average, which is really great too! We live in Bergen, and it's postage stamp-sized lots everywhere. We were very lucky to have found a big yard with the home we bought!
I love to see "befores". It is always fun to see how tastes evolve and change through time. TGIF!
What a fun post! I hope I can do this someday (renter for now!).
Doesn't the time just fly by!! I love your home. And you are right, they are never finished…thank goodness. It's fun to always have a project;)
You have a lovely home and the flashback was fun to see the then and now. Hugs
I wish we could stay in one place that long! So exciting what you are doing!!! Conservatory…very cool.
Wow I love your home's open floor plan! And the ceilings in your entryway are so high. Isn't it fun looking at before and after photos?
Surely this is a site well worth seeing.
Oh I love it, what great pics. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me.
It just turned 15 years that we are here too! Time flew !!!
Your lucky to have photos like these to look back into. Congratulations on the 15 years!
Hi Shelley! I'm a new follower! I love all of your before and afters. I know exactly what those framers were thinking about the dumb window… they are all lined up on the outside. That is what my framer told me when I had him redo my laundry and kitchen window. I said, "I don't care if it's lined up outside. If I can't see out of it, what good is it to me?" He moved them and said, "Well, that's why we build houses out of wood." I am thinking… What is the exterior of your house? If it is siding, your window is an easy fix. It's easier to move it down then up. I would look into it ASAP, especially if it drives you nuts. You will say, Why didn't I do that years ago?! If you don't care about saving your current window, you can order a larger one and not have to piece the outside. I would call the distributor you used for windows and get them out for an estimate! Fill us in on what you do! Love your blog! xo, Emily
