My Home Office Now (After the After)
A few months ago, I participated in the One Room Challenge at Linda’s blog Calling It Home. For the challenge, I decorated my home office.
At the end of the six weeks, I had completed most of the room except a few details here and there. I was also waiting for my plantation shutters to arrive.
Well, the shutters have arrived and I can now show you what my office looks like these days!
C’mon in…
I love walking into this room every day!
Here is a shot of what the room looked like before the shutters arrived (and before spider mites arrived and destroyed my palms.)
One Room Challenge Office Reveal
I feel like the shutters have made the room feel finished.
I also added some baskets for extra storage.
These have been a huge help with all our school papers!
And I bought a new orchid. Don’t worry, the old one is still alive. I just moved it because I like the color of this one better. It’s more…well…orchid! Apparently the hot color of the year!
I still might do something with the empty corners where the palms were.
Oh – and here is something that I realized I like….The stripes in the rug, the boards of the hardwood floor and the louvers on the shutters all run in the same direction. That is very pleasing to my eyes.
And I love my desk more and more every day!
Sure, I still have to hang some artwork and I am also thinking about curtain panels for the windows but basically this room is done! Hooray!
Thanks again to Linda at Calling It Home for hosting a party for all the One Room Challenge Updates. I can’t wait to see what everyone else has done!
Have you updated any “previously finished” rooms?

Shelley, this office is so pretty. That new orchid is amazing. I love the shutters, well worth the wait. I wouldn't mind doing paperwork in this space. Maybe I would mind, less?

You did such a great job pulling this space together Shelley! I love how you brought your mood board to life with the desk, bookcases, and blue and white palette! I would LOVE a space like this for my very own!
Wow your room looks fabulous! I love that rug- it really makes a statement. The shutters look perfect. Too bad about the spider mites. They used to say you could spray the plant with a mix of dish soap and water (won't hurt them) to kill the mites.
Shelley, it looks fantastic. I want an office of my very own just like it. Enjoy!!
I love your office! It's so bright and the shutters look great! Those dastardly spider mites!

Your office is gorgeous! I need you to come decorate mine for me.
I love a bright and airy room and with blue and white it is lovely. Your rug and pillows with blue chinoiserie look great. Great furniture and shutters finish it beautifully.
I know this post is ancient but hopefully you will see my question. I love your office white bookcase, did you make it yourself or where did you purchase it? Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you Janet! The bookcases are by Howard Miller – the Ty Pennington line. I don’t think they carry them anymore but if you look up Howard Miller, you can find similar ones. Ballard Designs also makes similar ones. Mine were a cream color but I repainted them Decorator’s White. Hope that helps!
