The “W” Hotel in Washington, D.C.
Since we all love gazing at different design styles,
I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to give you a tour
of where we stayed on our trip to Washington, D.C.!
My husband has accumulated a ton of points from Starwood Hotels, so we knew we would choose a Westin or a W for our weekend accommodations. Since the W – Hotel Washington is only 2 blocks from the White House, we decided that hotel would be the best fit.
This is the view and you are entering the lobby.
Lots of marble and some fun sparkly ceiling hangings.
The rest of the lobby/lounge has more shimmering touches.
In the evening the whole room took on a purple glow.
Kind of a nightclub feeling.

The hotel room was small with a modern European feel
which is supposedly common for a W.
Lots of gray and white.
Very streamlined and ready for business.
And here is the purple chair.
I can’t see myself buying one of these…
I loved the rooftop lounge
known as the POV lounge.
A little too sophisticated for kids on a Friday happy hour. Although, when we went back on Saturday after a day of museum hopping, it had a whole different vibe – more family friendly and casual.
Such a great spot for a drink.
And you really can’t beat the view at sunset!
Yes, there is the White House!
The room where they served breakfast had a fabulous view too!
(And the buffet was delish!)

I love how they combined an old building with a dash of “W” to pull off a chic contemporary feel. Although the hotel is not my design style (I am a little more traditional), I would stay there again in a second! The staff was so accommodating and friendly, the hotel was spotless, and those beds…those Heavenly Westin beds! Remind me to buy when of those when I replace my mattress!
You really cannot beat the location! We were walking distance to some of the greatest sights and restaurants in the city.

Agreed, one of our favorite vacations! We stayed at the Westin in Georgetown, but it wasn't nearly as chic! 🙂
Wow, really modern and chic! I love Washington DC, but always have stayed with relatives in Maryland and commute in to the city. It would be such a treat to stay right in the middle of everything. What a great trip!
