Fun and Creative Valentine Gift Idea
Now that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, I am trying to come up with some gift ideas. After all, anyone can buy a box of chocolates. So this year, I’ve been trying to think of a fun and creative Valentine gift idea.

My husband is THE most difficult person to buy for and to be honest, he really doesn’t care if he gets anything for Valentine’s Day! He would rather not have me spend the money on something he doesn’t need than receive a gift. But that doesn’t stop me from trying to be creative anyway!
Here’s what I am thinking for this Valentine’s Day…
Fun and Creative Valentine Gift Idea:
Flashback to a couple months ago when I took a cooking class with some girlfriends. That day, we had a blast and learned to cook several new desserts…yum! In our class, there was this adorable young couple next to us who were having the best time together. While the rest of us created fall themed apple tarts using leaf cookie cutters, they used hearts to cut their dough…It was so sweet!
Anyway, it made me think what a fun date night this could be!
Or better yet, what a great Valentine’s gift this could be!
Of course, I would love for my husband to come up with this creative idea for me…but since he won’t, I could give it to him as a gift!
Sure, I could be taking a a bit of a chance with this Valentine gift idea because my husband is not really into cooking. He might be the master at the outdoor grill and holds the annual job of making breakfast on Christmas morning, but the thought of him taking a cooking class makes me giggle. I just can’t see it…which makes it even more of a fun idea!
The class my friends and I took was at Sur La Table . Their cooking studio was huge with all the high end appliances and gadgets you could imagine!
I have already started browsing through their cooking classes listed online to see which date I can fit into our schedule. After all, it is ski season so we have to consider that with my husband and boys! Since my husband loves most food, there are a variety of date night classes that would work for us!
Or in case he doesn’t go for my unique idea, I could sign up for something more general and not so ‘date oriented’. This way if he really doesn’t want to join me, I could still take the class with a friend again! So basically, it’s a win-win situation…for me that is!
After all, the class we took was so much fun!
Not only were we laughing and enjoying each other’s company all day, but we learned some very valuable tips!
Such as, you must use a candy thermometer when making caramel!
You should have seen the disastrous attempt the boys and I made with our caramel recipe a few years ago because I didn’t think one of these was necessary! Believe me, it is!
Another valuable tip…You can never add enough chocolate!
Okay, so maybe that is just an opinion, but everyone in the class agreed! Anyway, we learned all kinds of techniques, made three different desserts and got to taste them all! No one could pick a favorite because everything was incredible!
If you don’t have a Sur la Table near you, they do offer online cooking classes as well! See if any of those appeal to you!
So, that’s my plan for a creative Valentine’s Day gift…and if that idea fails miserably, I can go back to using a theme to purchase gifts next year. After all, my ‘Everything You’ve Never Wanted for Christmas‘ theme went over so well! You can read about that one – HERE.

I think it is a fabulous idea. My hubby, who loves to cook, would probably enjoy something like that. Or a wine tasting! And, I was all set to put your Christmas idea into action when what did my hubby do…GAVE ME A LIST! Say what????!!!
I have never taken a cooking class, but I always peek in when I am browsing at Sur La Table. That is a great gift idea! We don't usually do much for Valentine's Day because we are still recovering from all the money spent on Christmas and house projects we saved for the new year. Have a wonderful weekend!!
Oh my word, how fun. I hope he goes with you.
No, and I wish to someday! looks like a lot of fun!
Oh how I wish living in a large city and having a Sur La Table to shop in! They just have the best kitchen items in the world! Fun store and looks like a fun cooking class also. xo
I love cooking classes and that looks like so much fun!
A sweet valentine treat! Thanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY!Blessings,Cindy
Thanks for the idea! We had planned to do this during the summer but something came up and we had to cancel. People always look like they are having fun and actually learning something whenever we snoop through the window! Great idea for Valentines!
Do it Shelley! I graduated from Culinary School but I've also taken some "fun" ones (before I did the more serious school) and lots of couples did them – they are so fun! He will love it, I think.Sheilaxowww.maisondecinq.blogspot.com
I've taken a few and taught a few also. Would definitely love to take more!
My husband is impossible to buy a gift for too! I love the idea of taking a cooking class together….I think my husband would enjoy that?!?! I mean he's a man, and he does like to eat!!!! LOL Can't wait to see what your husband thinks of his gift :o)~Des
Have never taken a cooking class but it would be so much fun! Thanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY!Blessings,Cindy
What a fun idea! I think experience-based gifts like these go so much further than another "thing" to collect (unless it's something they really, really want and this goes for birthdays too). My husband never asks for a thing but would really enjoy this. I wonder why the SLT in Paramus, NJ doesn't offer classes. It would be fun!
