Deciding on Bar Stools for the Game Room
A while ago, I purchased a Pier One pub table for our game room/conservatory.
You don’t see much of this room on the blog, but you might recognize the shelves in the background. I like to change the decor on them each season.
Anyway, after purchasing the pub table,
I stalled on choosing the bar stools.
At first, I thought I wanted the Pottery Barn Seagrass chairs,
but couldn’t commit to them because I kind of wanted something softer.
Then I found these cute ones from World Market.
But they don’t have a store in NJ and I need to see them in person.
World Market couldn’t send a fabric sample so I am a little nervous
although they did say the fabric is a grayish tan.
The walls in the room are Benjamin Moore – Providence Olive.
The pool table has a burgundy colored felt on top
which may or may not change.
I also have a couple of tan zebra striped chairs on the other side of the room.
I just don’t want the bar stools to clash with these.
I have been scanning every store on the internet
for something reasonably priced…and comfortable.
So for now, this table just sits in the lonely corner
waiting for some bar stools.
Any suggestions?
Should I take a chance
on the World Market stools?
UPDATE – Click HERE to see the stools I ended up buying.
I love this room in your home. I have to say I'm drawn to the lighter seagrass PB chairs, I like the way they'd play off the zebra print. Playful!
I've bought bar stools from WM and I love them, similar to the one you've shown above, but mine has not tufting and swooped arms. The price is good and quality is ok. Go for it!
My daughter bought their dining room chairs in that same gray/tan color. They are comfy and were easy to assemble. I put Scotch Guard fabric protector on them and within an hour a 3 yr old put chocolate cake on a chair. It wiped right off. They may not be the finest made chairs but they are really nice and definitely a good price.
I am also drawn to the lighter seagrass bar stools. You cannot go wrong with a neutral color. I do not think you would be disappointed at all.
We fell in love with those World Market bar stools, too! We passed on them when we kept sliding off the ones at our local store. The fabric was kind of slippery. We probably have bigger butts than your family, though. 🙂 I love your zebra chairs! Oh, and that view!!
LOL – we have some big butts too…. Good to know on the slippery fabric! I tried some leather ones and had the same problem. I think if they were counter stools it wouldn't have been as noticeable but when you are higher up, you have farther to fall!
I wish I could go check out those World Market stools for you but we don't have one nearby either – so wish we did! Ballard has a lot of great ones but they're pretty pricey!
You have a great taste Shelley! I love the bar stool you purchased and it’s open to have it in your living room with accessories. Those chairs, awesome!Sebastian ofGazebo and Bali Hut Super Store
I love the zebra chairs! And I think you should go for the WM chairs. The fabric looks neutral enough to work with your decor. Thanks for sharing at Fridays Unfolded!AlisonNancherrow
I like the seagrass chairs, but I don't think they would be so comfortable to sit on. I would personally go with the WM one! It looks elegant and will definitely work with your style! You can always add more color with accessories if needed! =)
I love the seagrass, but like you; am not sure how comfy they would be. I think the WM ones look great. I think they are subtle enough that they will blend. What a fun room! Thanks for sharing with SYC.hugs,Jann
What a dreamy room! Love the seagrass, but I'd go for comfort first! Thanks so much for sharing at Amaze Me Monday…Blessings,Cindy
Wow, great options! I'm looking forward to seeing what you choose! I am delighted that you shared with Home and Garden Thursday,Kathy
I also love softer seat counter stools. We bought ours at Pier 1, with wicker seat and back with metal hairpin legs. I added a comfy cushion to each one and they work great.
