Traditional Christmas Mantel with Poinsettia Wreath

This year, I decorated my Christmas mantel using a poinsettia wreath as the focal point.

For some time, I had the poinsettia wreath hanging around waiting to be used.

Speaking of “hanging around”, these Christmas stockings work well with the traditional style of my mantel.  My sister in law bought us these stockings from Land’s End and I just love them!

With the addition of a couple topiaries and my go-to black candlesticks, my simple and classic mantel was complete!

All I need is some wood in the fireplace. (And some new fireplace tools!)  Santa told me he is bringing new ones for my husband this year!

Originally, I had other plans to decorate my mantel this year to continue the look I had going in the fall…

To start, I had planned on hanging a wreath over the mirror I had leaning up there.  But I got nervous that the weight of the wreath would pull the mirror forward and I haven’t had the chance to use the proper reinforcements to attach the mirror to the wall.

Plus, who knows what kind of crazy pulling and grabbing of the stockings will be going on here on Christmas morning!

Anyway, I don’t want to get behind with my shopping, card sending. baking and picking outfits for parties schedule.  Who needs to get caught up in another project, right?

So, traditional it is for this year!

Did you take the traditional route for your mantel this year?

  4. I, for one, love traditional! This year I am going for easy too. I remember one year making a huge garland and the whole thing came crashing down….so I think you're smart not to overload things!

  5. I love your traditional mantel display with that gorgeous red wreath! We have similar needlepoint stockings from Land's End that we have had a long time.
