Touches of White When Decorating For Christmas

With a red dining room,

I don’t want to go overboard with more color even at Christmastime.

So, I like to use white when I can.

And this year I even used fresh greens.

(Well, the berries in there are fake..)

My little white bird fits right in.

Here is a night shot.

I already moved a couple things from this morning.

I do like the way the green and white look against the red.

I know, the plant is a little droopy.

I never did claim to have a green thumb!

Gotta throw in a few glass Christmas ornaments.

It’s funny, most of the year I am tired of the red in this room.

Seriously, how many times on this blog have I already mentioned wanting to repaint?

But during the holidays, the red just makes me happy.

And I also love how it pops next to the white wainscoting.

So, I think…I will keep it one more year!

Of course, ask me again in April and see how I feel!

Do you have a hard time with a major paint color change?

  1. Your dining room looks beautiful and very Christmasy. The red certainly is the perfect backdrop for all your white pretty things. I am like you about having a hard time changing paint colors. It can be scary when a room already looks fine but I just want a change. That sounds like where you are, too. The good thing is it is just paint and can be painted back to the original color. I do the painting so once the new color goes on the wall, I somehow decide it looks great because I don't want to paint it again. Shannon

  2. God…I love your dining room!! As always, it looks fantastic. I'm not sure if it is the same by you but my supermarkets sell norfolk pines this time of year. That would look so great in place of the peace lily (not that the peace lily isn't pretty, the norfolk pines just look so Christmas-y!)And don't worry about keeping the norfolk pine alive…it's impossible!

  3. Your red dining room is just perfect for the holidays! What a great idea to use the white! It looks lovely with the greenery too.Picking out the right paint color is so tricky! I always see in my mind the color I want, and then I can never exactly match it. It drives more poor husband crazy. I usually end up buying many, many samples, because I can't live with a paint color unless I love it!! I'm crazy that way…
