Island Style Seating – How to Get the Vacation Look at Home

I am always checking out furniture when I go on vacation and I try to recreate the look in my home.

I love the coastal look of this chair.

This particular one was at a hotel restaurant in Turks and Caicos…

Here are some great island looking barstools  that I would love to have!

Here are some more.  I wouldn’t mind that whole counter area either…if I had a beach house!

I have always adored the traditional British Colonial curled arm look like on this chair.

That’s why I have this one in my living room.  My chair has a bit more of a contemporary take on the look but it is the only one I could find 12 years ago when I was looking.

Since then, Ethan Allen and others have come up with some great variations.

Here is a cute little Dutch Colonial bench I wouldn’t mind having.

And of course you can’t beat the look of Seagrass, when trying to re-create that island feel.

They look great with a dark wood table.

I love my Seagrass Pottery Barn wingback chairs. Such great curves and nice and high in the back.

But I consider this to be the “best seat in the house!”

Did you ever copy the look of any furniture you saw on vacation?

  1. Yes in fact we copied a style. After visiting Arizona around 7 years ago. We became very inspired by Spanish flair and culture. So a lot of what we have and what we do is inspired from a vacation. Thanks for joining my newbie party…have fun. I have this party weekly so I hope to see you again.
